Job Description

As a Creative Technologist, you will be hands on in all aspects of user experience including: gathering and understanding business and user needs, building high and low fidelity prototypes, and developing production-ready shippable code. American Express has won the JD Power Award eight years in a row, including Best in Web Interaction for the Credit Card Industry. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who can blend business needs with customer needs to drive innovative solutions. 

Responsibilities

Work with the UI/UX team to rapidly build out and iterate upon low fidelity and high fidelity prototypes - You will own the projects and prove their value to the rest of the organization

Responsible for designing and maintaining reusable UI components used across the Amex organization

Collaborate with Agile technology teams to bring successful prototypes into production-ready products

Act as a thought leader internally and externally and facilitate innovation workshops with clients and partners

Ensure adherence to best practices, standards and brand consistency 

Qualifications

8+ years development experience

3+ years experience building teams and managing people

Relevant experience analyzing user experiences and turning them into usable, interactive prototypes and/or products

A deep understanding of the principles of User Experience, User Interface Design and Typography

Expert-level understanding of CSS - You know the browser quirks and you know how to handle edge cases

A strong portfolio showing breadth of development work


Qualifications

Our Ideal Candidate Also has...

Experience with managing a code-based style library

Knowledge of one or more front-end frameworks (Backbone, Angular, Ember)

Experience working with prototyping tools such as Axure, Invision, Balsamiq, Framer, or UXPin

Proficiency with design tools, most notably OmniGraffle, Ilustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Familiarity working in lean/agile product development methods 

Excellent relationship management, verbal and written communication and executive presence
