Job description

Seeking an Experienced Painter!
ABOUT AXIOM CUSTOM PRODUCTS
Axiom Custom Products is a custom fabrication shop serving the creative, events, retail, and construction industries. We combine advanced digital manufacturing technologies with decades of fabrication expertise to deliver exceptional products that stand out for their quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. With extensive in-house capabilities, we partner with our clients at every stage of a project, from concept and prototyping through fabrication, finishing, and installation.
Our reputation is built on integrity, dependability, and the talented people who make it all happen. We believe in doing great work, supporting one another, and creating an environment where skilled craftspeople can continue to learn and grow. We offer competitive wages, outstanding benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage with dependent options, 401(k) and Roth retirement plans, 6 paid holidays, and after your first year you'll accrue 20 days of PTO. If you're looking for a long-term career with a company that values quality and invests in its employees, we'd love to meet you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced Painter to join one of our busiest and most creative production departments. This is an opportunity for someone who takes pride in producing flawless finishes and understands that exceptional paint work is often what transforms a well-built product into an unforgettable one. From custom retail displays and architectural features to museum exhibits, branded environments, and one-of-a-kind fabricated projects, your craftsmanship will play a critical role in delivering products that exceed client expectations.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in professional paint application and understands every stage of the finishing process, from surface preparation through final inspection. You know that achieving a premium finish starts long before the paint is applied. You're skilled in sanding, filling, masking, priming, spraying, and finishing, and you understand how substrate preparation, material compatibility, application technique, and curing all work together to produce durable, beautiful results.
You have experience applying a variety of primers, sealers, paints, and clear coats using HVLP and conventional spray equipment. You're comfortable working with wood, metal, plastics, composites, and foam, and you have an exceptional eye for color, texture, sheen, and consistency. Whether matching an existing finish or producing a custom sample, you take pride in delivering work that meets the highest quality standards.
Success in this role requires someone who is dependable, organized, and eager to contribute to a collaborative production environment. You communicate well, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and are always willing to jump in where needed. We value cross-training and continuous improvement, giving you opportunities to expand your skills throughout our fabrication and finishing departments.
If you enjoy working with your hands, appreciate the satisfaction of a flawless finish, and want to build a career instead of simply filling a position, we'd like to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll work independently and alongside a talented production team to deliver finished products that meet demanding customer specifications and production schedules. You'll prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, filling imperfections, masking, and staging parts for paint application. You'll mix paints, primers, sealers, stains, and clear coats to manufacturer specifications and apply coatings using professional spray equipment while maintaining consistent coverage, color, texture, and sheen.
You'll create finish samples, document processes, monitor drying and curing times, inspect completed work for quality, identify defects before products move downstream, and make necessary touch-ups to achieve a flawless final appearance. You'll organize work through the finishing department, maintain spray equipment and work areas, and collaborate closely with fabrication, assembly, and project teams to ensure every project leaves the shop looking its absolute best.
WHAT YOU BRING
You have previous experience as a paint finisher, industrial painter, automotive painter, cabinet finisher, or in a similar manufacturing or fabrication environment. You understand paint systems, surface preparation, spray techniques, color matching, and quality standards. Experience with HVLP spray equipment and a variety of paint formulations is strongly preferred.
You're detail-oriented, accountable, and capable of managing your time effectively while maintaining high production standards in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer skills are helpful for accessing drawings, work instructions, and project documentation.
This position requires standing for extended periods, repetitive movement, lifting and moving materials, and safely operating hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment. You'll work around paints, solvents, compressed air, and other manufacturing equipment where proper PPE and adherence to safety procedures are essential. Reliable transportation to work is required. A driver's license is not required.
JOIN OUR TEAM
If you're passionate about paint finishing, take pride in exceptional craftsmanship, and enjoy seeing your work become the finishing touch that brings every project to life, we'd love to hear from you.
