Job Title: Senior Director, Creative

Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Creative will be an integral part of the Trulieve Marketing department, reporting to the Executive Director, Digital Marketing. This role is responsible for leading and transforming the creative organization while elevating the visual quality, consistency, and effectiveness of all customer-facing creative across Trulieve's portfolio of brands, channels, and markets.

As the company's senior-most creative leader, this individual will establish enterprise creative standards across design, omnichannel campaign development, retail environments, and digital experiences while leveraging AI-driven creative technologies to enable personalization at scale, accelerate speed-to-market, and modernize how creative is produced, delivered, and optimized across the business. The ideal candidate is a design-first creative executive who thrives at the intersection of creativity, technology, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative vision, design standards, and visual execution across all customer-facing channels, ensuring a cohesive, differentiated, and elevated brand experience across Trulieve and our portfolio of brands.
  • Develop a retail-first, design-led creative planning framework that drives annual campaign development across all markets, ensuring every initiative is rooted in consumer insight, business objectives, and a consistent brand experience from concept through execution.
  • Establish enterprise-wide creative standards governing visual identity, typography, color systems, photography, video, motion graphics, packaging, retail design, UX/UI, digital experiences, and content creation across all channels.
  • Drive creative accountability across internal teams, agencies, and production partners by implementing rigorous review processes, quality controls, and approval workflows that ensure all creative work adheres to established brand guidelines and visual standards.
  • Direct creative development and art direction for major campaigns, product launches, retail initiatives, enterprise programs, and strategic marketing efforts while maintaining exceptional levels of craftsmanship and execution.
  • Build scalable campaign toolkits, creative systems, design frameworks, and governance models that improve quality, efficiency, collaboration, and speed-to-market while maintaining brand consistency across every customer touchpoint in-market.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality visual feedback and mentorship to designers, art director(s), photographers, videographers, content creators, and creative managers, elevating both creative quality and individual craftsmanship across the organization.
  • Partner closely with Retail, Brand Marketing, Customer Experience (CX), Compliance, and Executive Leadership to align creative strategy with business priorities, delivering compelling campaigns, elevated customer experiences, and design-led solutions that drive measurable business outcomes and product performance.
  • Oversee creative production across photography, video, packaging, retail environments, digital experiences (websites, mobile app, CRM, rewards, loyalty, etc.) and emerging AI-assisted creative mar-tech, ensuring all deliverables meet enterprise standards for quality, consistency, and brand integrity.
  • Champion a culture of creative excellence by setting clear expectations for design quality, storytelling, innovation, and execution while holding teams accountable for delivering work that elevates the perception, relevance, and visual distinctiveness of Trulieve and its brands.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary creative organization while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and industry-leading creative output.
  • Drive the ongoing transformation of Trulieve's creative organization, evolving the company's visual identity, creative reputation, and design standards while ensuring the brand remains modern, culturally relevant, customer-centric, and visually differentiated.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Advertising, Fine Arts, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 12-15+ years of progressive creative leadership experience with a strong foundation in graphic design, visual communication, art direction, and brand identity development.
  • 7+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary creative teams across design, photography, video, production, content creation, and agency partnerships.
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating expertise across visual identity systems, digital design, retail design, packaging, campaign development, content creation, and omnichannel marketing.
  • Extensive experience directing visual design across web, mobile applications, email marketing, social media, eCommerce, retail environments, motion graphics, photography, and video.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish creative standards, provide detailed visual critiques, and mentor creative talent.
  • Strong understanding of modern design systems, UX/UI principles, content production workflows, digital-first creative development, and omnichannel customer experiences.
  • Experience implementing and utilizing AI-assisted creative tools and modern creative technologies to improve quality, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and rapidly evolving business environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading creative transformation, rebranding initiatives, organizational restructuring, or creative modernization efforts within a consumer-facing brand.
  • Experience in retail, consumer packaged goods, hospitality, lifestyle, health and wellness, cannabis, or other high-volume consumer marketing environments.
  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, motion graphics software, digital asset management systems, creative workflow platforms, and AI-enabled creative tools.
  • Experience managing internal creative agencies, external agencies, production partners, and large-scale content operations.
  • Strong understanding of emerging design trends, consumer behavior, digital experiences, and cultural relevance in modern marketing.
  • Flexibility of hours - some nights and weekends required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based environment involving prolonged periods of computer work, creative reviews, presentations, and team collaboration.
  • Occasional travel may be required for retail visits, photo and video productions, vendor meetings, agency engagements, market visits, and company events.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and creative initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
