Join The Team:

ERCO Worldwide is looking for a Plant Services Technician to join our team! It is an entry level rail car loading position, reporting into the Plant Services Supervisor, which includes inspecting and loading chemical railcars and trucks for the following product lines: KOH, NaOH and HCl (potassium hydroxide, caustic or sodium hydroxide, and hydrochloric acid). In short, the Level 1 Plant Services Technician ensures the safe and efficient movement of chemicals by rail and truck.

The Role:

Loading Railcars

  • The Skill Block 1 Plant Services Technician is responsible for loading 3 types of chemical products: KOH, NaOH and HCl into General Purpose tank cars.
  • Ensuring correct positioning and securing of railcars at each loading station. (Handbrake, Wheel Chocks, Safety Railing)
  • Complete pre-load inspection to ensure railcar is within compliance before loading.
  • Load railcars using product specific batchers. Set batcher amounts to ensure car is not overloaded
  • Complete post-load inspection to ensure the railcar is leak free before sealing the load.
  • Enter all railcar information into the Load Management System.
  • Weigh all loaded railcars on the track scale, ensuring that the car is within weight restrictions.

Railyard Switching

  • Certified to operate Locomotive and Shuttweagon to safely switch railcars.
  • Sort Inbound railcars daily, put outbound train together with the requested shipments.
  • Complete Pre-ship inspections to ensure all outbound railcars are within compliance of FRA/AAR regulations.
  • Interact with CN train crew - Transfer of HAZMAT paperwork.

 

 

 

Loading Trucks

  • Load 3 types of chemical products (KOH, NAOH, and HCI) into the product specific truck trailers.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Enter all information into the Load Management System.
  • Ensure trailer meets DOT requirements. (Seals, Placards, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Analysis and Product Safety Data Sheet.)
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations
  • Documentation and Record Keeping
  • Maintaining records of all loading activities. .

The Person:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Diploma from a vocational institution in rail car maintenance, railroad operations or related field preferred.
  • Complete training on NDT – Bubble Leak Test and Chemical Reactivity Test required.
  • Ability to operate Shuttle Wagons, Locomotive, Forklift and UTV required.
  • 1 year of experience as a Technician and/or Labourer with an ability to work outside.
