What is a creative operations manager?

Creative Operations Managers are professionals responsible for streamlining and optimizing the processes, workflows, and resources within creative teams or agencies. Their main goal is to enhance productivity, ensure timely project delivery, and facilitate effective communication among team members, clients, and stakeholders. They often oversee project management, budgeting, resourcing, and the implementation of best practices, allowing creative teams to focus on producing high-quality work. Creative Operations Managers play a key role in bridging the gap between creativity and operational efficiency.

How does a creative operations manager typically collaborate with creative and non-creative teams to streamline project workflows?

A Creative Operations Manager acts as a bridge between creative teams (like designers, writers, and producers) and non-creative departments (such as marketing, project management, and finance). They facilitate clear communication, set up efficient processes, and ensure everyone is aligned on timelines, resources, and deliverables. By implementing project management tools and standardizing workflows, they help teams avoid bottlenecks and achieve project goals more effectively. Regular status meetings, feedback loops, and performance metrics are common tools they use to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative operations manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Operations Manager, you need strong project management skills, a solid understanding of creative processes, and often a degree in marketing, design, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello, digital asset management systems, and workflow automation platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and leadership are crucial soft skills to effectively coordinate teams and manage multiple projects. These skills ensure efficient project delivery, foster team collaboration, and drive the overall success of creative initiatives.

Join our team and become part of a legacy that is more than 100 years in the making!

Join the Dahl Automotive team as a Marketing Manager! This position will lead Dahl Automotive’s marketing strategy and brand image across all 16 locations throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. You will strengthen and grow our brand by developing a social media strategy with original, engaging content at each dealership and at the group-wide level. This role will focus on driving measurable lead generation, increasing market share, improving customer engagement, and delivering a strong return on marketing investment. You’ll also ensure each location maintains a consistent brand experience while meeting manufacturer requirements and local market needs. If you’re a creative, driven marketing leader who’s ready to make an impact across a growing automotive group, we’d love to hear from you—apply today and join the Dahl Automotive team!

Responsibilities

  • Lead Dahl Automotive’s overall marketing strategy across all 16 locations, ensuring consistency while supporting the unique needs of each dealership.
  • Develop social media strategy and determine who will execute (partners, in-house or hybrid); establish clear expectations for content quality, volume, creativity and turnaround times.

  • Hire, coach, and manage any additional marketing team members as needed.
  • Build and maintain a content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, balancing inventory, sales, fixed operations, community, culture, and recruiting content.
  • Establish a repeatable content-production workflow, including shoot days at each location, editing, approvals, scheduling, and asset management.
  • Set and enforce Dahl Automotive brand standards, OEM compliance, and advertising-disclosure requirements across all marketing and social content.
  • Partner with GMs and Sales Managers on inventory-driven campaigns, aged-unit movement, monthly payment offers, and other sales initiatives.
  • Oversee inventory syndication and third-party listings, including Autotrader, Cars.com, CarGurus, and Facebook Marketplace, and evaluate the ROI of each platform.
  • Own dealership website marketing, including content, merchandising, SRP/VDP experience, offers, and conversion optimization.
  • Work with website providers to create and maintain monthly website coupons, incentives, and special offers.
  • Drive service and parts marketing through retention campaigns, declined-service follow-up, tire and accessory promotions, seasonal campaigns, and service scheduler optimization.
  • Manage community sponsorships, charitable giving, local events, and other community-focused marketing initiatives.
  • Represent Dahl Automotive at community events and other public-facing opportunities when appropriate.
  • Track marketing performance and use data to improve lead generation, market share, customer engagement, and overall marketing ROI.
  • Review and audit vendor invoices and marketing expenses to identify opportunities to eliminate ineffective or unnecessary spending.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of marketing experience, with 3+ years in automotive retail strongly preferred; multi-store or multi-brand experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience hiring, managing, and developing creative or content teams, including setting production schedules and providing editorial feedback.
  • Strong understanding of short-form video strategy, social media platforms, and evolving platform algorithms; able to recognize what makes content effective, not just whether it was produced.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, lead generation, website performance, and marketing analytics.
  • Ability to develop marketing strategies that connect creative execution to measurable business results.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Willingness to travel between Dahl Automotive locations throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Excellent communication, organization, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, collaborative, and highly accountable with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a multi-location organization.

As part of the Dahl Auto team, you will be eligible for all company benefits, including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401k with automatic 3% company contribution, life insurance, disability insurance, accident insurance, discounts on vehicles and services, and much more!
