What is a creative operations manager?

Creative Operations Managers are professionals responsible for streamlining and optimizing the processes, workflows, and resources within creative teams or agencies. Their main goal is to enhance productivity, ensure timely project delivery, and facilitate effective communication among team members, clients, and stakeholders. They often oversee project management, budgeting, resourcing, and the implementation of best practices, allowing creative teams to focus on producing high-quality work. Creative Operations Managers play a key role in bridging the gap between creativity and operational efficiency.

How does a creative operations manager typically collaborate with creative and non-creative teams to streamline project workflows?

A Creative Operations Manager acts as a bridge between creative teams (like designers, writers, and producers) and non-creative departments (such as marketing, project management, and finance). They facilitate clear communication, set up efficient processes, and ensure everyone is aligned on timelines, resources, and deliverables. By implementing project management tools and standardizing workflows, they help teams avoid bottlenecks and achieve project goals more effectively. Regular status meetings, feedback loops, and performance metrics are common tools they use to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative operations manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Operations Manager, you need strong project management skills, a solid understanding of creative processes, and often a degree in marketing, design, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello, digital asset management systems, and workflow automation platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and leadership are crucial soft skills to effectively coordinate teams and manage multiple projects. These skills ensure efficient project delivery, foster team collaboration, and drive the overall success of creative initiatives.

We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.

The Team

Our Experiences team puts fans at the center of their favorite stories, in real life, through permanent entertainment venues, Netflix House, and touring attractions around the world. Netflix Houses are our permanent, always-on, constantly refreshable entertainment venues, where guests can step into their favorite stories. We aim for these experiences, along with our merchandise offerings, to foster a lasting love for our titles, making them part of the zeitgeist for extended periods and driving long-term value for Netflix.

The Role

As the Experiences Creative Studio - Operations Manager, you'll serve as both the operational lead and strategic thought partner to the Director of Creative, supporting a multidisciplinary team of designers, producers, and storytellers to bring Netflix IP to life in new and innovative ways. You'll help define priorities, pressure-test ideas, build the systems and culture that allow creative ideas to move seamlessly from blue-sky concepting through design and fabrication to opening day and beyond. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Netflix Experiences leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners to ensure that work is appropriately briefed, resourced, managed, and delivered on time and on budget. You'll build the systems and workflows that allow the Creative Studio to operate at its best, balancing speed, scale, and creative excellence across a diverse portfolio of experiences.

Key responsibilities:
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the Director of Creative, helping shape the studio vision, priorities, creative portfolio, and direction.
  • Architect and optimize the systems that power how work flows through the Creative Studio, enabling efficiency, clarity, and creative excellence at every stage.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the Creative studio, owning the tools and communication that drive daily workflow and ensure work is delivered on time, on brief, and within scope.
  • Partner closely with the creative leads, production, and cross-functional partners to define project scopes, budget, resourcing, and timelines.
  • Orchestrate across internal teams and external partners to ensure work advances in alignment with creative vision and business priorities.
  • Proactively track project health, anticipate and remove operational obstacles to protect creative intent while balancing business goals and timelines.
  • Maintain consistent knowledge of the status of all projects in the studio.
  • Support the casting, onboarding, and management of external creative partners while promoting healthy ways of working.
  • Ensure the Creative Studio operates efficiently, effectively, and consistently delivering against Netflix Experiences' daily, seasonal, and long-term objectives.
  • Actively identify and engage new creative talent and partners to support the studio’s evolving needs as projects grow in scale and ambition.
  • Champion a culture of creative exploration and experimentation, ensuring operational systems support bold ideas and innovation at every stage.
Qualifications / Experience

8+ years of experience managing creative operations or production within agency, studio, or client-side environments.

Proven track record of operationalizing multidisciplinary creative teams and projects across concept development, art direction, environmental and experience design.

Experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder creative programs spanning brand, retail, and experiential environments.

Ability to connect individual workstreams to broader brand and business objectives.

Proven ability to negotiate vendor and contract agreements.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with cross-functional teams.

Established network of agency and vendor relationships.

Strong organizational and project management skills with deep fluency in tools such as Figma, Miro, Airtable, and Google Workspace (3D design software a plus).
