What is a creative operations manager?

Creative Operations Managers are professionals responsible for streamlining and optimizing the processes, workflows, and resources within creative teams or agencies. Their main goal is to enhance productivity, ensure timely project delivery, and facilitate effective communication among team members, clients, and stakeholders. They often oversee project management, budgeting, resourcing, and the implementation of best practices, allowing creative teams to focus on producing high-quality work. Creative Operations Managers play a key role in bridging the gap between creativity and operational efficiency.

How does a creative operations manager typically collaborate with creative and non-creative teams to streamline project workflows?

A Creative Operations Manager acts as a bridge between creative teams (like designers, writers, and producers) and non-creative departments (such as marketing, project management, and finance). They facilitate clear communication, set up efficient processes, and ensure everyone is aligned on timelines, resources, and deliverables. By implementing project management tools and standardizing workflows, they help teams avoid bottlenecks and achieve project goals more effectively. Regular status meetings, feedback loops, and performance metrics are common tools they use to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative operations manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Operations Manager, you need strong project management skills, a solid understanding of creative processes, and often a degree in marketing, design, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello, digital asset management systems, and workflow automation platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and leadership are crucial soft skills to effectively coordinate teams and manage multiple projects. These skills ensure efficient project delivery, foster team collaboration, and drive the overall success of creative initiatives.

Your Role
At OUTFRONT Media, we activate brands in the real world, through high-impact billboards and transit media that connect with audiences where life happens.
We're hiring a Commercial Account Executive to grow the Canton & Akron market, an underdeveloped territory with significant upside. This is a true hunter role for someone who wants to build a book of business, own a market, and bring modern thinking to out-of-home (OOH).
As the primary revenue driver in your territory, you'll identify, develop, and close new business while building long-term client relationships through customized advertising solutions.
What You'll Do
New Business Generation (Hunter Mindset)
  • Proactively identify and pursue high-potential advertisers across local, regional, and mid-market businesses, as well as independent and digital agencies
  • Execute strategic outbound efforts (cold outreach, networking, in-market presence) to build a high-quality pipeline
  • Educate clients on OUTFRONT's value, positioning OOH as a modern, measurable, and scalable channel
  • Develop tailored proposals that align with client objectives and drive results

Sales Execution & Account Ownership
  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close and renewal
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner, building trust and long-term partnerships
  • Present customized, insight-driven proposals that integrate creative, data, and location strategy
  • Ensure pricing and process alignment with Revenue Operations standards

Campaign Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with internal teams (Creative, Charting, Operations, Sales Support) to bring campaigns to life
  • Ensure seamless execution across billboard, transit, and digital inventory
  • Act as the client advocate, ensuring campaigns deliver on expectations

Pipeline & Performance Management
  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and forecasting in CRM
  • Provide regular updates to Sales Leadership on performance, pipeline health, and market insights
  • Actively manage time, travel, and resources to maximize in-market selling time

Market Expertise & Growth Strategy
  • Stay ahead of local trends, emerging categories, and competitive activity
  • Identify new revenue opportunities and verticals
  • Represent OUTFRONT in the market through events, networking, and community engagement

What You Bring
  • 7-10+ years of sales experience, ideally in media, advertising, or related industries
  • Proven success exceeding quotas with a strong new business / hunter mentality
  • Deep experience building and managing client relationships
  • Strong understanding of the full sales cycle, from cold outreach to close
  • Ability to translate client needs into compelling, results-driven advertising solutions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highly organized with strong CRM discipline and pipeline management
  • Experience with OOH, transit, digital, or programmatic media is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Why OUTFRONT?
  • IRL Advantage: In a fragmented digital world, we deliver real-world attention you can't scroll past
  • Modern OOH: Data-driven, measurable, and increasingly programmatic
  • Untapped Territory: Canton & Akron offer a rare opportunity to build, grow, and own a market
  • Collaborative Support: Backed by best-in-class creative, operations, and sales enablement teams

Who This Role Is For
This is for a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building from the ground up, and wants to bring a modern, strategic lens to a legacy medium. If you're equal parts hunter, consultant, and closer, this role gives you the platform to make a real impact.
