Job description

Description:

The Operations Manager will play a critical role in managing various aspects of incoming donations and day-to-day operations of the store. This position will be responsible for coordinating with the Executive Director daily to manage various aspects of processing donations to include but not limited to managing inventory, scheduling staff and volunteers, training and development, creative displays, cleanliness of store, promotions, evaluations and other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, team player and a passion for fostering a positive work environment for employees and volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Supervise: Department Team Leaders, who report directly to this position, as well as operational staff, volunteers, and work study students within assigned areas.

B. Oversee and schedule coverage for the daily operations of the shop, including daily opening and closing, daily sales reports, and bank deposits.

C. Provide excellent customer service.

a. Oversee the development of guidelines and procedures that create a customer-friendly experience.

b. Train and encourage staff and volunteers to provide the best service possible.

c. Act as a role model to staff and volunteers by being available to answer questions and provide service when needed.

D. Maintain shop appearance through attractive merchandising and creative displays.

E. Communicate with the Physical Plant Supervisor regarding cleaning of the facility, restrooms and staff areas as needed.

F. Supervise and give yearly evaluations of operational staff. Perform annual individual and departmental goal-setting and self-evaluation.

G. Oversee the training and orientation of new volunteers in cooperation with other operational staff. Plan training events/workshops for all volunteers when needed, with assistance of the Executive Director and other operational staff.

Requirements:
  1. Supervisory experience in retail, nonprofit, or operations preferred.
  2. Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
  3. Experience with POS systems and website management preferred.
  4. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with diverse groups.
  6. Experience working with volunteers is preferred.
  7. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are preferred but not required
  8. Availability for occasional Saturdays required.
