What is a creative operations manager?

Creative Operations Managers are professionals responsible for streamlining and optimizing the processes, workflows, and resources within creative teams or agencies. Their main goal is to enhance productivity, ensure timely project delivery, and facilitate effective communication among team members, clients, and stakeholders. They often oversee project management, budgeting, resourcing, and the implementation of best practices, allowing creative teams to focus on producing high-quality work. Creative Operations Managers play a key role in bridging the gap between creativity and operational efficiency.

How does a creative operations manager typically collaborate with creative and non-creative teams to streamline project workflows?

A Creative Operations Manager acts as a bridge between creative teams (like designers, writers, and producers) and non-creative departments (such as marketing, project management, and finance). They facilitate clear communication, set up efficient processes, and ensure everyone is aligned on timelines, resources, and deliverables. By implementing project management tools and standardizing workflows, they help teams avoid bottlenecks and achieve project goals more effectively. Regular status meetings, feedback loops, and performance metrics are common tools they use to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative operations manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Operations Manager, you need strong project management skills, a solid understanding of creative processes, and often a degree in marketing, design, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello, digital asset management systems, and workflow automation platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and leadership are crucial soft skills to effectively coordinate teams and manage multiple projects. These skills ensure efficient project delivery, foster team collaboration, and drive the overall success of creative initiatives.

Job description

Kitchen Manager โ€” Longfellow Hotel
Twinflower Cafรฉ & The 5 of Clubs

The Longfellow Hotel is seeking a passionate, creative, and driven Kitchen Manager to lead our dynamic, dual-concept culinary program. This is a unique opportunity to shape and elevate two distinct dining experiences under one roofโ€”each with its own energy, purpose, and guest experience.

About the Concept

By day, Twinflower Cafรฉ is rooted in nourishmentโ€”focusing on whole foods, thoughtful sourcing, and balanced, nutrient-rich plates that support overall wellness.

By night, the space transforms into The 5 of Clubs, where we embrace indulgenceโ€”offering elevated, flavor-forward dishes that highlight local ingredients and bring a sense of occasion to every service.

About the Role

No Hot Line Grind! Be Creative! The kitchen at The Longfellow Hotel is built for speed and efficiency. The concept is prep based with ease of dish execution to be quick and easy. We run both menus out of a Rational iCombi oven and a Blodget.ย

As Kitchen Manager, you will oversee daily kitchen operations while helping define and evolve both concepts. You will have the creative freedom to develop new menu items, contribute ideas, and collaborate closely with our Food & Beverage Manager, bar program, and other hotel outlets. This role includes a mix of leadership responsibilities, with time spent both on administrative duties and working hands-on shifts in the kitchen.ย

ย

As a valued member of our team, you will be eligible for the various benefits:

  • Discounted Hotel Stays Across New England through NEIRA
  • Discounted Hotel Stays throughout the world at SLH properties
  • Individual Coverage for Health, Dental & Vision
  • Unlimited PTO Policy
  • Discounted meals at our food & beverage outlets Twinflower Cafe and Fiveย of Clubs
  • Discounted spa services at Astraea Spa
  • Parental Leave
  • Bereavement Leave
  • Access to career development and advancement courses
  • Voluntary enrolment in Uncommon Hospitality IRA plan matching up to 3% contributions

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Lead and inspire the kitchen team across both day and evening services
  • Execute and maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Collaborate on menu development for Twinflower Cafรฉ and The 5 of Clubs
  • Source and highlight local, seasonal ingredients
  • Manage ordering, inventory, and cost controls
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Support hotel-wide collaboration with events, bar, and F&B leadership
  • Oversee service for approximately 50 covers nightly, plus occasional small events (10โ€“25 guests)

ย

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • A strong culinary leader with experience in both high-quality casual and upscale dining
  • A passion for health-forward cuisine as well as refined, indulgent cooking
  • Creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for a dual-concept kitchen
  • Excellent organizational and team leadership skills
  • A commitment to fostering a positive, professional kitchen culture

Why Join Us?

At the Longfellow Hotel, youโ€™ll be part of something distinctiveโ€”where thoughtful nourishment meets elevated dining, and where your creativity genuinely shapes the guest experience. This is an opportunity to grow, innovate, and lead in a kitchen that values both purpose and pleasure.

Pay Range: $65,000โ€“$70,000 annually
