Full-Time Position

Westbrook On Tap is looking for a motivated, creative, hands-on Bar & Events Manager to help lead our bar, grow our business, and create a place customers are excited to visit.

This position combines bartending, team leadership, event planning, promotions, and business development. The right person will help create new events, book entertainment, increase customer traffic, build community relationships, and make Westbrook On Tap a more successful destination.

ResponsibilitiesGrow the Business
  • Create new ideas for themed nights, promotions, tournaments, fundraisers, leagues, and community events

  • Develop and maintain a monthly event calendar

  • Find, contact, negotiate with, and book bands, musicians, entertainers, and event hosts

  • Help attract private parties, birthdays, company gatherings, fundraisers, and other group events

  • Build relationships with local businesses, organizations, performers, and community groups

  • Promote events through social media, community pages, in-house advertising, and local partnerships

  • Track attendance, sales, expenses, and results to determine which events should be repeated or improved

  • Bring new ideas and growth opportunities to the owner regularly

Lead the Bar Team
  • Manage approximately two to three bartenders

  • Train, coach, schedule, and support employees

  • Delegate opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, and event responsibilities

  • Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable

  • Help create a dependable, professional, and welcoming work environment

  • Handle customer or employee concerns when necessary

Manage Daily Operations
  • Place beer, wine, liquor, and supply orders

  • Monitor inventory, product levels, waste, and organization

  • Keep the bar clean, stocked, and ready for customers

  • Handle opening, closing, cash-handling, and routine operating responsibilities

  • Follow all alcohol-service, safety, and company policies

  • Communicate with the owner about staffing, inventory, sales, events, and business needs

  • Work independently and confidently operate the bar alone when scheduled

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is:

  • Creative, outgoing, organized, and dependable

  • A self-starter who can turn an idea into a successful event

  • Comfortable leading, delegating, training, and holding employees accountable

  • Confident working independently without constant supervision

  • Experienced in bartending, hospitality management, event coordination, promotions, or a related field

  • Comfortable communicating with customers, performers, vendors, and community organizations

  • Familiar with social media and event promotion

  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining excellent customer service

  • Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

Previous management experience is preferred. We will also consider an experienced bartender or hospitality professional who is ready to take on a leadership role and can demonstrate strong organization, creativity, and follow-through.

Compensation and Earning Potential
  • Starting base pay: $20 per hour

  • Eligible for tips when actively working as a bartender and directly serving guests

  • Potential to earn $40+ per hour on busy bartending shifts when base pay and eligible tips are combined

  • Actual tip earnings vary based on business volume, customer traffic, and hours worked; the $40+ figure is potential, not guaranteed

  • Performance-based bonus potential tied to successful events, private bookings, promotions, and measurable business growth

  • Overtime paid for hours worked over 40, in accordance with applicable law

  • Full-time position, generally approximately 40-50 hours per week depending on business and event needs

  • One week of paid vacation available after 90 days

  • Typically two scheduled days off each week
