What does a creative event director do?

A Creative Event Director is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing unique and memorable events. They oversee the creative vision, design themes, coordinate with vendors, and manage teams to ensure every detail aligns with the client’s goals. Their role often involves brainstorming innovative ideas, handling budgets, and ensuring a seamless guest experience. Creative Event Directors work across various event types, including corporate functions, weddings, product launches, and festivals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative event director?

To thrive as a Creative Event Director, you need expertise in event planning, project management, and creative concept development, often supported by a degree in event management, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and design platforms like Adobe Creative Suite is typically required. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help you inspire teams and maintain client relationships. These skills ensure the seamless execution of innovative events that meet client objectives and create memorable experiences.

How does a creative event director typically collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders during the event planning process?

A Creative Event Director works closely with both vendors and internal teams to ensure every aspect of the event aligns with the overall vision and objectives. This includes coordinating with suppliers, caterers, and production teams to manage logistics, as well as collaborating with marketing, design, and executive leadership to integrate branding and messaging. Regular meetings, clear communication, and detailed timelines are essential to keeping everyone on track and addressing challenges as they arise. Building strong relationships across all parties helps deliver seamless and memorable events.

Job description

Why join Ivo?

Every civilization runs on the same infrastructure: agreements between people who don't fully trust each other. Sumerians pressed them into clay. Romans carved them into stone. We bury them in 80-page PDFs. The way those agreements are reviewed hasn't changed in four thousand years – a human reads the whole thing and tries not to miss anything. We're building the AI that finally changes that. Ivo is the contract intelligence platform of choice for companies like Uber, Meta, Canva, IBM, and Shopify. We recently raised our Series B and have grown 800% over the last 12 months.

The role

We are looking for a Creative Director to join our growing marketing team and own Ivo’s visual brand across every digital touchpoint. This role will shape how Ivo is understood, remembered, and trusted in market – from our website and landing pages to paid ads, social, sales collateral, product storytelling, event assets, and other key moments throughout the buying cycle. We believe a clear, distinctive, and exceptionally executed visual brand can make complex ideas feel intuitive, build credibility with a sophisticated audience, and help define the category we’re building. This person will play a central role in that work. This is a broad, high-ownership creative role for someone who can set the visual direction, build the systems that keep our brand consistent, and execute at a high level. You’ll shape and evolve Ivo’s company visual identity, ensuring every asset feels intentional, polished, and aligned with our point of view. Ivo’s audience values clarity and craft, so every experience should feel calm, dependable, and considered. The bar for great design is high. Legal tech is an exciting field, and the capabilities of AI solutions are growing fast. We’re looking for someone who wants to use design to clarify complex ideas, elevate our brand, and make Ivo’s story more compelling across every channel.

What You’ll Do
  • Own Ivo’s visual brand across digital channels, including the website, landing pages, paid ads, social, email, sales collateral, and campaign assets
  • Lead the design and evolution of Ivo’s website and digital experiences, ensuring they are beautiful, useful, conversion-oriented, and unmistakably Ivo
  • Create and maintain scalable brand systems, templates, and design guidelines that raise the quality bar while helping the marketing team move quickly
  • Translate campaign concepts, product messaging, and original research into compelling visual executions that make complex ideas easier to understand
  • Partner with Brand, Content, Demand Gen, Product Marketing, and Sales to create assets that support the full buying journey and strengthen how Ivo shows up in market
  • Maintain and evolve Ivo’s visual identity, pushing the brand forward while ensuring consistency, craft, and cohesion across every touchpoint
  • Collaborate on video, motion, event, and out-of-home assets as needed
  • Partner with external creative agencies, freelancers, and production vendors to brief, review, and ship work
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–6 years of experience in brand, marketing, or digital design, ideally in a B2B SaaS context
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong visual systems, digital brand ownership, creative risk-taking, and a high level of execution
  • Experience owning or significantly shaping a company website, digital campaigns, and cross-channel marketing assets
  • Web design experience, particularly in Webflow
  • Proficiency in Figma (our primary tool) and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, small-team environment where you'll own your work end-to-end
  • Strong visual instincts and an editor's eye. You notice when something's off, and you fix it
  • Ability to accept and synthesize feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Bonus: experience with motion graphics or video editing (After Effects, Premiere, or similar)
Compensation And Benefits
  • Competitive Compensation: The USD base range for this role is $142,000-$160,000. Final offer details are determined based on experience, expertise, and overall fit. Commission is not guaranteed.
  • Medical benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans to suit the needs of you and your family.
  • 401(k) Program: Save for retirement through our company-sponsored 401(k) plan.
  • Commuter Benefits: We provide commuter benefits to help make getting to and from the office easier and more convenient.
  • Unlimited PTO: So you can take the time you need to recharge, stay healthy, and bring your best self to work.
  • Office Perks: Enjoy a vibrant Downtown San Francisco office with catered lunch provided five days a week, premium snacks and coffee, a gym located in the building, and a dog-friendly environment!
