As a high-growth firm, Wilson Engineers offers the opportunity to work on impactful and technically challenging projects alongside a talented and passionate team. We are currently seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join our Tempe, Arizona office.
  • Perform structural design, analysis, and engineering calculations for a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, contributing to the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable facilities.
  • Develop and support the preparation of construction drawings, technical specifications, and other project deliverables from concept through final design. 
  • Conduct structural assessments and field investigations, and assist in preparing engineering reports, technical memoranda, and construction cost estimates. 
  • Apply sound engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices to solve technical challenges and deliver high-quality design solutions. 
  • Independently manage smaller engineering assignments with defined objectives while collaborating with senior engineers on complex, multidisciplinary projects. 
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure designs are technically sound, constructible, and aligned with project goals, budgets, and schedules. 
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to CAD designers, technicians, and support staff to ensure the timely delivery of accurate project documentation. 
  • Continuously expand technical knowledge by staying current on emerging technologies, design standards, and industry best practices.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasis
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain 
  • Microsoft Office, Mathcad, TEDDS or similar analytical software experience
  • SAP2000, STAAD or similar Finite Element software analysis experience
  • AutoCAD, Revit or similar detailing and drawing production experience 
  • Ability to work in a team environment with the work involving studies, detailed design and engineering services during construction for a wide variety of projects
  • Possess analytical and organizational skills to support multiple projects at a time
  • Ability to learn, listen, adapt, and take ownership of work
  • Attention to detail, self-directed learning, and meeting deadlines  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate work with other disciplines and production staff
  • Willingness to try new things and be forward thinking, with a creative and innovative approach to engineering
