Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Graduate Assistant (GA) position for the Office of Marketing and Communications supports the Office of Marketing & Communications in advancing the university’s brand, recruitment efforts, and engagement strategies. This role contributes to the development of creative content, promotion of events, and execution of communications that support graduate program recruitment and visibility. This position is ideal for a graduate student interested in digital marketing, communications, content creation, or higher education marketing.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the creation, scheduling, and management of social media content

• Support the promotion of graduate programs, campus events, and key initiatives

• Contribute to digital marketing and recruitment campaigns

• Draft and edit marketing copy, including emails, web content, and promotional materials

• Capture and develop content from campus events through photography, video, and written summaries

• Produce and plan podcast production and episode planning

• Assist with outreach efforts to increase awareness and engagement of graduate programs

• Collaborate with the marketing team on special projects and strategic initiatives

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Admissions & Marketing and Creative Services Manager.

Qualifications:

• Must be admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University. International students are not eligible for graduate assistantships.

• The successful candidate for this position will possess a bachelor's degree and must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, a commitment to student development, higher education, creativity, vision, passion, and compassion are imperative.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a sensitivity to the values and ethos of a Catholic institution.

• Ability to think creatively, strategically, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in marketing tools and platforms relevant to higher education (e.g., CRM software, social media analytics, content management systems).

• Self-motivated, adept at initiating tasks independently, demonstrating high efficiency, and consistently meeting stringent deadlines.

• The GA is expected to work the appropriate number of hours based on the allotted hours stated in the Graduate Assistant policy. The term of this position is based on the availability of the successful candidate but shall not exceed two full academic years.
