The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that projects meet quality and performance objectives and are delivered on time and within budget. This position involves various project types at UAP; however, the primary focus of the Project Manager is to oversee Design Assist and Specialty projects, including some international collaboration
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A project manager's work within UAP is grounded in a culture of mutual support, built on collaboration, integrity, curiosity, generosity, and excellence in craft.
Design, Fabrication + Installation
  • Ensure all activities related to a project's construction are completed, from the design phase through installation
  • Coordinate design activities with UAP's design team, external consultants, and client teams
  • Work with fabrication and installation teams to establish the schedule and sequence of work and ensure that quality standards are met
  • Meet with clients and vendors to identify potential risks and find solutions that maximize production and minimize cost impacts
  • Liaise with multiple sub-consultants and sub-contractors to ensure proper coordination and installation sequence
  • Assist with Develop sub-contractor agreements
  • Coordinate the installation of the finished product, including site work, as-built verification, and site logistics, and make on-site visits as necessary
  • Understand and execute the project in accordance with the contract agreement while escalating any concerns in a timely manner

Scheduling
  • Create a detailed work plan that identifies the sequence of activities to be completed
  • Review plans, scope, and proposals to determine the proper procedures for project delivery
  • Develop an accurate and efficient work plan and schedule for each assigned project to ensure on-time delivery
  • Document and communicate the work plan and any changes made during the projects
  • Clearly communicate program milestones with relevant stakeholders

Budget Management
  • Take part in discussions about cost planning
  • Ensure that the project sticks to the agreed budget
  • Make sure that all contractual terms and obligations of projects are upheld and that the projects meet cost requirements
  • Develop and maintain accurate and efficient project budgets, and ensure that budget requirements are clearly communicated to relevant stakeholders
  • Report on budget status as required to all project stakeholders
  • Manage all project contract variations with the client
  • Review competitive bids from contractors, level scopes, and contract the preferred contractors and vendors
  • Escalate barriers to achieving budget and project outcomes in a timely manner

Client Management
  • Ensure that the client's expectations are met, including contractual obligations and creative vision
  • Understand client expectations (budget, time, quality, and vision)
  • Ensure that the scope, budget, and schedule for the project are maintained with accurate and current information while managing the client's expectations regarding these outcomes
  • Maintain communication with clients throughout the project, and provide regular project status reports to the client and UAP management
  • Consult with clients when changes occur in scope, budget, time, or expected outcome
  • Escalate barriers to achieving client outcomes in a timely manner

Qualifications
  • Develop and maintain good relationships, communicate clearly, inspire and influence others, and manage conflict
  • A tertiary qualification or extensive equivalent experience in construction management, architecture, or fabrication
  • Demonstrated project management skills in relation to design, fabrication, and construction of projects, including contracting, planning, and scheduling
  • Ability to interpret contract clauses and documents, standards, as well as technical guides, drawings, and specifications
  • High-level problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of, or ability to gain an understanding of, the creative, construction, or manufacturing industries
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project applications
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Adobe InDesign
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and remain focused under pressure
  • Ability to take initiative, follow through on commitments, and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Willingness to work as part of a highly motivated team through collaboration and communication
  • Understanding of emotions, needs, and concerns of other people, ability to pick up on emotional cues, and feel comfortable socially

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and using design software
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, mouse use, and handling design tools or materials
  • Ability to view and interpret detailed drawings, plans, and computer screens for prolonged periods
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching while reviewing prototypes, materials, or equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate items (typically up to 25-30 lbs), such as samples, drawings, or tools
  • May require occasional visits to manufacturing facilities, workshops, or job sites, which can involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and environments
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required in shop or field settings
  • Ability to travel occasionally to vendor sites, job sites, or other company locations
