Job description

Account Directors are senior-level leaders at MP&F. As an Account Director responsible for client strategy and executing approved tactics on behalf of our clients, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing successful marketing, advertising and public relations campaigns. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic planning and client management skills, and have a proven track record in guiding marketing, advertising and media relations endeavors at state, regional and national levels. This position demands a motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and can foster enduring relationships with clients and internal teammates. This role is based in our Nashville, TN office.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead direct reports. Conduct regular 1:1s. Provide performance coaching and management. Work with other senior leaders to ensure junior staffers are meeting expectations on client teams.

Client Strategy: Develop and lead comprehensive marketing strategies tailored to individual client needs and objectives. Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals, target audience, and unique selling propositions, ensuring that all efforts align with their brand vision and voice.

Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients (or direct those who do), ensuring exceptional service delivery, regular communication, and timely reporting of campaign progress and performance. Proactively identify new opportunities to add value and grow client accounts.

Excellent team management. Pulls together expertise from across the agency to develop strategies to support your clients. Rallies the troops and fosters collaboration. Delegates well. Optimizes individual team members to ensure everyone is utilized appropriately and scope is managed according to budget.

Tactical Execution: Oversee the implementation of approved strategies, coordinating cross-functional teams to execute various marketing, advertising and PR tactics effectively. Monitor campaign progress and make data-driven adjustments when needed to optimize performance and deliver exceptional results to clients.

Strong Writing Skills: Draft or guide the creation of persuasive and compelling content for RFPs and proposals, creative briefs, press releases, articles, website copy, and other materials, showcasing a keen understanding of different target audiences and platforms.

Innovative Thinking: Understand client industry landscape as well as marketing, advertising and media landscape to develop innovative solutions to complex problems on behalf of clients and agency.

Financial acumen: Works with client and team to build appropriate scope and budget. Manages team in accordance with scope. Reviews bills and works with client and accounting staff to ensure bills are communicated and promptly paid.

Capabilities awareness: Understands all MP&F capabilities, including marketing strategy, public relations, creative and paid media. Can articulate capabilities to clients and knows who to tap for deeper expertise which such is needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in marketing, advertising or PR, with a focus on client strategy and execution. Previous agency experience is strongly preferred.

• Strong leadership and team management abilities, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high-quality standards.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• Familiarity with the latest marketing and PR tools, technologies, and trends.

• Passion for staying up-to-date with industry best practices and continuously improving skills.
