Job description

Client is seeking a motivated and highly skilled Attorney to work directly with the firm's founding partners on high-value commercial motor vehicle and serious personal injury cases.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling personal injury claims and the ability to analyze liability, damages, medical treatment, insurance issues, and litigation strategy. Prior experience with commercial motor vehicle cases, tractor-trailer litigation, catastrophic injury claims, and/or the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations is preferred, but not required.

This position involves working closely with the firm's partners on complex cases from investigation through litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, expert issues, mediation preparation, and trial preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with firm partners on commercial motor vehicle and serious injury cases;

  • Analyze liability, damages, medical treatment, insurance issues, and case value;

  • Review medical records, bills, crash reports, expert materials, discovery, and case documents;

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents;

  • File lawsuits and help manage cases through litigation;

  • Prepare and respond to written discovery;

  • Assist with and conduct depositions, depending on experience level;

  • Work with experts, treating physicians, investigators, and witnesses;

  • Prepare cases for mediation, hearings, and trial;

  • Maintain strong communication with clients, staff, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and the court;

  • Stay organized, proactive, and deadline-focused.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school;

  • Licensed to practice in Missouri and/or Illinois, or eligible for admission;

  • Personal injury litigation experience ;

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills;

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;

  • Commercial motor vehicle or trucking litigation experience preferred, but not required;

  • Familiarity with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations is a plus.
