POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION
The Instructor III - Arts - Stained Glass position is responsible for teaching specific arts and crafts classes to children and/or adults in a recreational setting. Recreation staff have the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of program participants.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks

1. Teaches arts and/or fine crafts to children and/or adults
2. Maintains a safe recreational atmosphere
3. Develops lesson plans and artwork samples
4. Gives regular/new demonstrations of arts and/or crafts techniques
5. Secures class materials as needed and prepares such for class
6. Tracks attendance and instructor hours for all classes
7. Pottery Instructors will load and unload gas and electric kilns
8. Maintains regular and punctual attendance

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City's discretion.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Training and/or education demonstrating proficiency in art or fine craft
• Arts Instructor III must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience and a high level of specialized knowledge of fine art and fine craft mediums

Preferred:

• First Aid, CPR and AED certification
• Experience in teaching

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
Physical Requirements
This position requires a low degree of physical stamina and strength, including the ability to:

• Frequently sit, stand and walk through a multi-level facility
• Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, twist, climb, balance and reach overhead
• Frequently lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds
• Constantly use hands and fingers for fine manipulation; occasionally use light and firm grasp
• Frequently see objects up close to perform office tasks and far away to observe activity for safety hazards or problems
• Constantly use hearing to interact with guests and staff and recognize trouble outside of view

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is constantly performed indoors with occasional outdoor activity. Indoor and outdoor work is performed in a high public use, multilevel recreation facility where loud noise and multiple events and activities at one time may cause a distraction. Exposure to periods of high activity and stress under demanding conditions. The position requires a great deal of communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies.
Required Materials and Equipment
Arts and crafts materials and equipment. Basic computer knowledge for completion of electronic timesheets.
