Job description

STV is seeking an Inspector to join our Construction Management Group, to work onsite with one of our aviation clients in Austin, TX.
Job Summary:
The Inspector is responsible for overseeing the inspection and quality control of airport buildings and infrastructure, including terminals, aviation buildings, and support facilities. The inspector ensures that all structural, architectural, and finishing works comply with project specifications, building codes, safety regulations, and aviation industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Inspection & Quality Control:
  • Conduct inspections of structural, architectural, and finishing works to ensure compliance with approved designs and material specifications.
  • Verify construction activities against FAA, ICAO, IBC, NFPA, and local building codes applicable to airport facilities.
  • Monitor concrete works, steel structures, roofing, glazing, flooring, ceilings, partitions, and fireproofing.
  • Identify construction defects, safety hazards, and non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Witness testing and commissioning of various building systems, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and electrical installations.

Project Coordination & Reporting:
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, architects, and airport authorities to ensure project quality.
  • Maintain daily inspection logs, progress reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on construction quality and safety compliance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting construction challenges and ensuring timely resolution.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to aviation safety standards, including fire resistance, wind loads, seismic requirements, and accessibility codes.
  • Conduct safety inspections related to airport infrastructure and report potential risks.
  • Support the implementation of risk mitigation strategies for high-priority buildings.

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in building inspection, construction supervision, or quality control, preferably in aviation projects.
  • Certifications:
    • Construction Quality Control (CQC), LEED, or OSHA certifications are a plus.
    • Familiarity with airport construction standards and regulations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of structural, architectural, and finishing works in airport environments.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and inspection reporting tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with strict timelines.

$64,994.00 - $73,856.00
