Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y is a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, and the nation's larger provider of swim lessons to increase skill and safety in and around water. This position provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.


GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director or Coordinator, provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.

  1. Recommended Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid certification.
  2. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  3. At least 15 years of age.
  4. Requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.

Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
