Job description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Plays crucial role in enhancing patient care and experience by carrying out various pharmacy-related services, including but not limited to admission medication review, medication therapy management coordination, clinical support services, drug manufacturer program assistance, prior authorizations, procurement, and other tasks. Requires ability to work independently, coordinate assigned projects efficiently, and effectively communicate with pharmacy staff, hospital administration, medical staff, patients, and external healthcare providers. The Senior Pharmacy Technician Specialist mentors more junior pharmacy technicians, effectively utilizes problem solving abilities, interpersonal skills and analytical expertise to support optimization of patient outcomes and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Completion of advanced certification as applicable to specialized role as designated by supervisor and/or Pharmacy Technician Ladder or meets all requirements of an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician III and has specialist/lead responsibilities within inpatient pharmacy. At least three years of experience as a pharmacy technician is required. Experience in a medical or pharmacy related field to include direct patient care activities; project coordination; processing and overseeing medical insurance billing and reimbursement cost capture; and/or in procurement or materials management is preferred. Must have demonstrated independent judgment.
CERTIFICATION
National Certification as an Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) is required.
LICENSURE
Current pharmacy technician registration from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required.
