Job description

Job Brief
Conducts the safe operation of company vehicles and equipment in accordance with local, State, and Federal laws, and within the guidelines set forth by CP Associations / CPT Policy and procedure.

CP Transport is a division of Constructive Partnerships Unlimited (CP Unlimited), providing transportation to people who reside in our programs. CP Unlimited was formerly known as Cerebral Palsy Associations of NYS. Our new name better reflects our wide array of services and programs and the diversity of people with disabilities that our agency supports.
Currently CP Unlimited is seeking a Full Time CDL Driver (Class B) to provide punctual, courteous, reliable and safe transportation throughout the five boroughs of New York City to the people in our programs. Our drivers connect people who receive services in our programs with the freedom and convenience of reliable, safe transportation. If you love serving people and driving - come work for us!
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing safe, courteous, reliable services to the people transported.
  • Creating and maintaining an environment suitable for the people we transport while understanding the needs of the people who reside in our programs.
  • Speaking to the people in our program, program personnel, parents and caregivers in a professional manner that is sensitive and respectful.
  • Assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking vehicles.
  • Ensuring all passengers are safely secure in their seats and/or wheelchair restraints.
  • Properly operate any equipment used in or during transport, i.e.: hydraulic lifts, ramps, tie downs, seat belts, safety flares, fire extinguishers, 2- way radios, gps equipment, etc.
  • Handling all special and emergency requests in addition to regularly assigned routes.
  • Pre-trip and post-trip inspection of all assigned vehicles. Upholding the standards for vehicles of the agency while using agency vehicles.
  • Attending staff meetings as required.
  • Submitting all required documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements:
  • A Valid New York State/commuter state license.
    • If license is not from NYS, will require an abstract from issuing state
      • Class A/B with passenger endorsement, no passenger restrictions
  • Pass drug screening- regular drug screening/random screenings
  • Pass a Department of Transportation physical
  • Pass background check(s)
