JOB SUMMARY

A Covey server is a forward-facing, high-touch and service-oriented person. Someone who truly cares about other people outside of Covey and aims to create positive experiences for others personally and professionally.

You will provide anticipatory, friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional experience for our guests and your colleagues. We enter the Covey doors each day with the desire to do something exceptional - show each other and our guests a marvelous Covey experience - so everyone wants to return.

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inform guests of any menu changes and daily specials - make recommendations you genuinely feel Covey guests will enjoy. Use emotional intelligence in "feeling out" each situation
  • Efficiently clean and immediately reset tables or counters after guests have finished dining - your "section' is Covey, assist your colleagues in cleaning and resetting tables as well
  • Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests - chill bottles of wine at tables as requested.
  • Dry silverware, set up serving & food stations, prepare kitchen or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties - in accordance with opening and closing duty checklists - we always "close to open"
  • Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens following Covey checklists and systems.
  • Be prepared to explain to guests and colleagues how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Prepare tables for meals, including meticulously setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware following Covey guidelines - symmetry is key. Uniforms and tabletops are two of the first and more important impressions our guests have of Covey
  • Properly remove dishes and glasses from tables or countertops and take them to kitchen for cleaning - place items at dish in specific areas.
  • Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests - always smile - answer phones with a smile - say goodbye and hello with a smile - we are on the stage
  • Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom - follow guidelines on checklists and Covey systems
  • Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate stemware, properly present and pour the wines for guests following Covey service protocols
  • Perform food preparation duties as needed and requested including but not limited to preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
  • Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
  • Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
  • Describe and recommend wines to guests.
  • Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guest needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
  • Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations - actively look for ways to help colleagues and improve experiences for guests
  • Follow Covey uniform standards
