What is a Covenant CNA?

A Covenant CNA is a Certified Nursing Assistant who works for Covenant Health or a similar healthcare organization, providing essential care to patients under the supervision of registered nurses and other medical staff. Their duties often include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility, as well as monitoring vital signs and reporting changes in patient conditions. CNAs play a crucial role in ensuring patient comfort and supporting the overall healthcare team, particularly in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and rehabilitation centers affiliated with Covenant Health.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Covenant CNA, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Covenant CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), you need a solid understanding of basic patient care, infection control, and assistance with daily living activities, supported by a high school diploma and state CNA certification. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), vital sign monitoring devices, and mobility aids is typically required. Compassion, strong communication, and the ability to work well under pressure are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for providing safe, respectful, and effective care to patients in a healthcare setting.

What are some common challenges faced by Covenant CNAs and how can they be addressed?

Covenant CNAs often manage high patient loads and must adapt quickly to changing care needs, which can be physically and emotionally demanding. Building strong communication skills and collaborating closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals helps ensure patients receive quality care. Time management and organizational skills are essential to balance multiple tasks efficiently. Seeking mentorship and utilizing available support resources can help new CNAs navigate these challenges and foster professional growth within the healthcare team.

Job description

Description
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) | Resident Care & Daily Living Support
Covenant Skilled Nursing & Rehab at Wellspring | Full-Time or Part-Time | Hourly $19.40 - $20.38 + shift differential
You didn't choose healthcare because you wanted to complete tasks on a checklist.
You chose this work because you care about people.
You understand that some of life's most meaningful moments happen in the quiet parts of the day-a reassuring conversation during breakfast, helping someone get ready for a family visit, walking alongside a resident who's working to regain strength, or simply taking the time to listen when someone needs a friend.
You know that dignity lives in the little things.
At Covenant Skilled Nursing & Rehab at Wellspring, we're looking for Certified Nursing Assistants who believe that compassionate care has the power to brighten someone's day and improve their quality of life.
As a CNA, you'll be one of the people residents trust most. You'll get to know their stories, preferences, routines, and goals. You'll help them maintain their independence whenever possible while providing the support they need to live comfortably and confidently.
Because our Transitional Care Center operates with a Universal Worker model, you'll do more than provide direct care. You'll help create a welcoming, comfortable environment through meal service, housekeeping, laundry support, and other services that help residents feel at home.
Most importantly, you'll play a hands-on role in helping residents feel valued, respected, and cared for every single day.
What Your Impact Will Look Like
You'll help residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, dining, mobility, and other personal care needs while protecting their dignity and independence.
You'll develop meaningful relationships with residents and families, learning what matters most to them and helping create a positive experience every day.
You'll notice the small changes that can make a big difference, observing residents closely and communicating important information to the nursing team.
You'll support resident comfort by answering call lights promptly, assisting with appointments and activities, and ensuring residents feel safe, heard, and cared for.
You'll help maintain a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment through light housekeeping, laundry services, meal support, and other tasks that contribute to residents' overall well-being.
You'll participate in admissions and transitions, helping new residents and families feel welcomed and supported as they begin their journey with us.
Some days you'll be helping a resident prepare for therapy. Other days you'll be sharing stories over a meal, celebrating progress with a family member, or providing comfort after a difficult day.
Every day, your kindness, patience, and compassion will matter.
The Caregiver We're Looking For
  • You believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • You find purpose in helping others maintain their independence and quality of life.
  • You enjoy building relationships and getting to know the people you serve.
  • You understand that excellent care includes both the clinical and personal aspects of someone's day.
  • You are dependable, compassionate, and committed to being part of a team.
  • You recognize that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.

Qualifications
  • Current Michigan Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, or the ability to obtain certification within four months of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous caregiving or related experience, preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, and team members to provide exceptional care.

Why Wellspring Lutheran Services?
At Wellspring Lutheran Services, we believe caring for people is meaningful work.
Through our partnership with Covenant HealthCare, we're able to provide high-quality skilled nursing and rehabilitation services while creating an environment where residents feel respected, supported, and at home.
Whether you're an experienced CNA or just beginning your healthcare career, you'll join a team that values compassion, teamwork, growth, and excellence in resident care.
We Offer
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching
  • DailyPay access to earned wages
  • Employee Assistance Program (SupportLinc)
  • Paid training and professional development opportunities
  • A supportive team environment focused on resident-centered care
  • Opportunities to grow your career within Wellspring Lutheran Services

Schedule
  • Full-time or Part-time
  • Night Shift, 12-hour shifts
  • 6:00pm - 6:00am
