Job description

Modern Family Law (MFL), a rapidly expanding national law firm specializing in Family Law, is seeking 3Ls and recent graduates sitting for the February 2027 Bar exam or the July 2027 Bar exam to participate in MFL Academy's Residency Program in one of our California offices (Oakland or San Jose). This role is hybrid, but you must sit for the Bar and plan to reside in the state where you are applying. 

Residency Program Details: 

After sitting for the Bar exam, Residency participants will join MFL to receive training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy. Residents will receive mentorship from the MFL Learning & Development department and legal teams, helping them successfully transition to an MFL Associate Attorney position upon passing the Bar.

Compensation and Benefits:Salary Range $83,200-$145,000.This range is areasonably reliableestimate of the salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factorspermittedby law.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school. 
  • Register for the upcoming February or July 2027 Bar exam. 
  • Attain a passing score on the MPRE before sitting for the Bar exam. 
  • Timely submission and approval of Character & Fitness application by the State Bar. 
  • Experience in Family Law Clinics is a plus. 
  • Mock Trial experience is a plus. 
  • Submission of cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to candidate questionnaire.
