Position Description
The City of Inver Grove Heights seeks a Golf Course Technician for Inver Wood Golf Course, a beautiful and extensively renovated course, that includes a regulation 18-hole course, 9-hole executive course, and practice range. Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Course Technician is responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in coordinating course maintenance personnel; coordinating, assisting and participating in the care, maintenance and implementation of plans/projects and functions of the course. Responsibilities include supporting the Superintendent and Assistant in the performance and supervision of all normal golf course maintenance practices, assisting with training seasonal staff and weekend supervision, performing application and record keeping of fertilizer and pesticide program, and performing maintenance, repair and scheduling of irrigation system.
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position, scheduled for 40 hours per week / 40 weeks per year. The hiring range is $24.35 - $26.47/hr. plus benefits including health, long-term disability and life insurance, vacation, personal leave, holiday pay, pension, and more. Essential Job Functions
Assists in irrigation programming, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems.
Calibrates and applies pesticides and fertilizers in accordance with established plans and requirements.
Assists in maintaining application records/files/documentation.
Maintains, plants, and performs landscaping activities and flower beds.
Prunes trees, initiates pest control and clears brush, as needed. Implements and performs all maintenance activities involved in turf and course maintenance to include mowing, tree removal, establishing hole locations, bunkers, maintenance, etc.
Sets up the golf course for daily play and/or tournament play.
Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.
Qualifications
Requires a minimum of 2 years prior golf course care, maintenance and repair experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires MN Pesticide Applicators and Phosphorus licenses. Requires certification in CPR/First Aid/AED after hire.

  • Assists in setting up course for tournaments or daily play.
  • Mowing and caring for fairways, performing bunker maintenance, setting pin location and performing course set ups for tournaments and daily play.
  • Calibrating and applying fertilizers, pesticides and using spray equipment.
  • Understanding, learning, applying, and following regulations, guidelines, and rules pertaining to the maintenance of course, safety procedures, and job responsibilities.
  • Operating and utilizing golf course equipment.

Work Environment:
Nature of assigned duties and responsibilities involve working near moving mechanical parts, working outside in all weather conditions/types; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; or exposure to errant golf ballsDuties involve the handling and application of fertilizers and pesticides and the operation of cutting and ground equipment that require caution and attention to safety procedures, precautions and safety equipment.
