Job description

Make a difference every day by joining CCRES as an Instructional Designer through our partnership with the Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA)!

OFFERING PAID CREDENTIALS - Eliminating upfront costs for necessary clearances!

SUMMARY:

The Instructional Designer will develop and maintain engaging and accessible K-12 course content for our online Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas, using identified curricular resources.

  • Position Details:ย 
    • Hours: Up to 25-35 hours per week
    • Project-Based/Each Project will be assigned a set amount of hours.ย ย 
    • Rate: $35 hour
    • Hours: 8:00-4:00
    • Commitment: 12-months
    • Start Date: 7/13-7/16

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Canvas Development: Build and organize course modules using department templates to ensure a consistent, navigable student experience.
    • OER Integration: Seamlessly integrate and configure external tools (CK-12, CommonLit, TCI) and digital content directly into Canvas.
    • Course Production: Manage high-volume tasks, including updating naming conventions, applying templates, and embedding interactives (quizzes, rubrics, discussions, including LTI resources).
    • Accessibility & Quality: Ensure all content meets WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards (Alt-text, captions) and aligns with instructional design best practices.
    • Instructional Partnership: Collaborate with the BVA team to translate instructional content into engaging, interactive digital learning experiences.
    • Maintenance: Update and troubleshoot course materials as platform features and district policies evolve.
    • Training: Complete mandated asynchronous training; attend some synchronous meetings as required.

Requirements

EDUCATION / EXPRIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree plus advanced training in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field - requiredย 
    • Pennsylvania teaching certification - required
    • Classroom experience K-12 - required
    • Experience designing content for Learning Management Systems required. (Canvas preferred)
    • Familiarity with diverse student populations is - strongly preferredย 
    • Knowledge of K-12 or higher education online learning environments - strongly preferredย 
    • Proficiency with multimedia authoring tools and instructional design software - strongly preferred
