Job description

The School of Professional Studies is seekinganadjunct instructor toenhancethe coursecontentandteachIntroduction to PsychologyfortheBachelor of Sciencein Life Sciences.

The coursewill be offered in an online, synchronous,semester-based format geared towardpart-time, adultundergraduatestudents.Designedto orient students to the scientific study of behavior through the exploration of selected principles and theories of human behavior. Topics includeperception, learning and memory, personality development, abnormal behavior, and social influences on behavior.

The instructor will add their subject matterexpertiseand real-world examples, partnering with MCPHS leaders to ensure content is relevant to employers. As part of the course development process, the instructor will partner with a project manager and instructional design manager. The instructor will playan important rolein the continuous improvement and overall success of the course. This role is crucial inestablishingthe foundation of the Bachelor of Scienceprogram, directlyimpactingits quality and future success. The instructor will help shape the learning experience for our students and will contribute to the growth of this exciting new academic offering.

  • Work with assigned course designer torefinecontent (assignments, presentations, readings, discussion boards, quizzes, exams) as needed.
  • Develop and provide students with an approved syllabus that includes courseobjectivesand learning outcomes, teachingmethodology, attendance policies in line with those of theSchool, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
  • Deliver course instruction,using the University learning management system and digital tools.
  • Use the University's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students.
  • Advise andassiststudents through office hours or scheduled appointments, by video conference,phoneor email, and through other University-approved mechanisms.
  • Provide service, including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and collaboration towardsa newcertificate inintroductory life sciences.
  • Maintain communication with theProgram Director and Assistant Dean,identifyingany students of concern and relaying student progress.
  • Maintain apresence inthecourse as directed by the ProgramDirector, including answering student emails promptly,participatingin interactive course elements where necessary.
  • Ensure the course meets the high-quality standards of other MCPHS online and on-campus courses.
  • Identifytactics to improve the course based on feedback.
