Summary of Position:
A workshop tutor provides academic support through workshop sessions focused on specific courses or topics. This role involves leading or assisting workshops that review key concepts, reinforce course material, and help students prepare for assignments and exams. Workshop tutors help students learn by providing focused, interactive learning activities in a group setting. Workshops take place in a classroom provided by the department or professor for up to two hours per day.
The Workshop Tutor provides supplemental academic support through tutoring activities designed to reinforce course concepts and aid student mastery of course content.
This position supports, but does not replace, instructional faculty.
This position is not eligible for remote work. All compensated work must be performed from an approved university location. The position may include virtual delivery of tutoring to students; however, virtual delivery must occur while the student employee is physically working from an approved university location.
Student employees in this role are not instructors and may not perform duties reserved for instructional faculty, including creating or revising syllabi, designing or assigning graded coursework, assessing learning for grades, grading student work, managing Canvas or other LMS course functions, delivering required instruction on behalf of faculty, substituting for faculty, making course policy decisions, or completing compensated work already assigned to instructional faculty. The role is limited to supplemental academic support, facilitation of learning activities, and student-success support.

Position Requirements: *Must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher
*Must have completed the course they will be assisting with and earned a grade of B or higher
*For math tutoring, must have completed Math 130
*Must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills
*Must be hired through HR prior to beginning tutoring duties
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: *Will assist students with coursework in various subject areas in a workshop setting
*For questions or concerns outside of the position summary requested by faculty, please direct your questions to the Director
*Workshop tutors are required to take attendance in Navigate for every workshop tutoring session
