Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Superintendent at Tradition Golf Club supervises all golf course maintenance activities and reports and works under the direction of the Director of Agronomy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Assist the Director of Agronomy in the maintenance of the golf course.

At the end of each day, a work status report of the crew's activities will be completed.

Responsible for completing daily work schedule. To be completed every afternoon prior to the following workday.

Assist in planning and supervising the construction and maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, cart paths, and landscape.

Instructs crew in the operation and care of golf course equipment.

Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of water pumps used for irrigation and water circulation.

Monitors daily shop clean up assignments.

Assigns and monitors lunchroom clean up each day.

Assists in the implementation of safety programs.

A. Pesticide training - Annually

B. Hazardous materials training - Annually

C. Emergency preparedness training - Annually

D. Risk control training - Annually

E. Hazard communication program - Annually

Train and supervise the planting and trimming of trees, shrubs, and flowers

Supervise the maintenance of the irrigation system.

Operate Toro computerized irrigation system.

Monitor lake maintenance contractor for compliance to contract specifications.

On an as needed basis, will perform crew maintenance responsibilities.

Calibrate spray rigs and fertilizer spreaders.

Supervise and participate in fertilizing.

Leadership - Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify Company values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers

Customer Service - Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner

Teamwork - Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers

Safety - Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company.

Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises golf course maintenance crew.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

College degrees are preferred, but long tenured experience can substitute for college

6 to 10 years' experience

Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities

Knowledge about equipment operation

Knowledge of Irrigation systems and effective watering practices.

Positive leadership skill set

Good teacher and mentor

Basic arithmetic

Read and communicate in English

Required Licenses/Certifications

Driver's license
