DEPARTMENT : Golf & Grounds
REPORTS TO: Golf Course Superintendent
SUMMARY:
Maintain golf course and grounds appearance of Ruttgers Bay Lake Resort's 18-hole and 9-hole par 3 course. Can supervise maintenance and repair of irrigation system and mechanical equipment fleet. Interact on a daily basis with guests and resort staff. Assist in leading the grounds crew daily and navigating course projects and advancements. This year-round Full-Time position follows throughout the winter months shifting projects to resort activities such as. Resort and HOA snow removal, maintaining an ice rink for public use, grooming trails on the golf course, and splitting firewood for fire pits across the resort.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of two (2) year degree in turf management preferred.
  • Previous golf course / grounds maintenance experience, with demonstrated success.
  • Experience with leading and managing a team for day-to-day as well as course improvement projects.
  • Some working knowledge and understanding of the mechanics for equipment and routine maintenance recommended but not required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Ensure that all golf courses are maintained to the highest degree and standard or resort expectation.
  • Manage daily maintenance of the golf courses, ensuring written course standards are achieved or exceeded.
  • Ensures maintenance and repair to all golf carts used throughout resort.
  • Responsible for proper application of all chemicals and fertilizers used throughout the golf courses; keeps accurate records and inventory.
  • Can lead and assist the Superintendent for any and all aeration, irrigation, landscaping, etc.
  • Operates and can train new hires on mowers, tractors, pickup trucks, carts, sandpros, string trimmers, greens rollers, chainsaws, back-pack blowers, etc responsibly.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of all department employees of day-to-day duties and projects alongside the superintendent.
  • Plowing and shoveling snow during winter months.
  • Maintaining and resurfacing our public ice rink.
  • Grooming our public trails throughout the golf course.
  • Assisting with our lead arborist in removing trees, brush, and splitting firewood.
  • Has a mindset of constant improvement to make everyday better than yesterday.
  • Enforces good safety practices and standards of all employees.
  • Ensures "guest first" attitude among team members and provides a friendly guest-contact experience.
  • Foster positive working relationships and communication with all departments.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to pass Ruttger's background check.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Pesticide license required or obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Stand; walk; sit; kneel; lift; push; pull; reach with arms and hands; move objects weighing up to forty (40) pounds.

Salary Description
$22.00-$30.00 DOE
