The CFO is responsible for the overall financial health and integrity of the Association, including financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, treasury, investments, risk management, internal controls, audit, and long-term financial planning. This leader translates financial information into meaningful insight that supports sound decision-making across a complex, multi-site organization.

You bring sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative leadership style. You know how to balance prudent financial stewardship with thoughtful investment in people, programs, facilities, and community impact.
You are energized by building strong systems, developing talented teams, solving complex challenges, and helping a mission-driven organization achieve both financial strength and lasting community impact.
About Us
The First Coast YMCA is one of the region's most respected and impactful nonprofit organizations, dedicated to strengthening the foundations of community across Northeast Florida. With a legacy that spans nearly 120 years, the First Coast Y has been a driving force for positive change-where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential and belong to something greater than themselves. The Y is always evolving to meet the changing needs of the community while staying true to its core mission-to build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Serving more than 200,000 individuals and families each year, the First Coast YMCA operates more than a dozen membership facilities, a resident camp, a charter school, and an extensive network of youth development, wellness, and outreach programs. These initiatives range from afterschool care to chronic disease prevention, quality family time, senior engagement, workforce wellness, and partnerships that address social responsibility and community well-being.
Essential Functions
Lead Financial Strategy and Organizational Sustainability
  • Partner with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the Association's mission, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making, organizational growth, capital investments, and new business opportunities.
  • Lead long-range financial planning, forecasting, scenario planning, and resource allocation.
  • Help organizational leaders understand financial performance and make informed decisions that balance mission impact, growth, and financial sustainability.
  • Identify financial opportunities and risks and develop proactive strategies to address them.

Lead Financial Operations and Stewardship
  • Provide executive oversight of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash management, investments, and other core financial functions.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other information needed by the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial systems that promote accuracy, accountability, transparency, and appropriate stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and partner with operational leaders to establish realistic financial goals and performance expectations.
  • Monitor financial performance and lead corrective action planning when necessary.

Strengthen Risk Management and Compliance
  • Oversee financial risk management, internal controls, insurance, and other strategies designed to protect the Association's assets and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial, tax, regulatory, contractual, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the annual audit process and maintain productive relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, advisors, and other professional partners.
  • Continuously evaluate policies, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and strengthen financial operations.

Support Facilities, Capital, and Growth Initiatives
  • Partner with the CEO, COO, and other leaders to evaluate capital investments, facility projects, real estate opportunities, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations related to new sites, expansions, renovations, partnerships, acquisitions, or other organizational opportunities.
  • Support capital planning and financing strategies that align with the Association's long-term financial capacity and strategic priorities.
  • Ensure major investments are evaluated through disciplined financial analysis, risk assessment, and long-term sustainability planning.

Build a Strong Finance Team and Organizational Financial Capacity
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team through coaching, mentoring, professional development, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, service, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
