Position Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Building Maintenance staff performs general maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of LMHS facilities and equipment. This position independently manages assigned work orders, completes a variety of building maintenance tasks, and collaborates with other maintenance staff on larger repair and installation projects.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of general maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of hospital facilities and equipment.
  • Complete building maintenance tasks including drywall repair and painting, installation of wall protection, ceiling tile replacement, equipment assembly, hanging fixtures, and other general repairs.

  • Independently manage and complete assigned work orders using the electronic maintenance management system while ensuring work is completed accurately and timely.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Assist maintenance team members with routine and complex repairs, equipment installations, data cabling, and facility improvement projects.

  • Travel to multiple LMHS facilities, as needed, to perform maintenance and repair services using a hospital-owned vehicle.

  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and maintenance personnel to support facility operations and respond to maintenance needs.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of general building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or related experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow oral and/or written instructions and dexterity to use standard hand and power tools.
  • Proficient in the safe use of standard hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently diagnose equipment and facility maintenance issues and determine appropriate repairs.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance practices, including drywall repair, painting, carpentry, equipment assembly, and minor facility repairs.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, or ability to meet LMHS driving requirements, if travel between facilities is required.
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
