Job description

Position Title: Women’s Cross Country Head Coach

Position Description: Performs coaching and promotional functions, including fundraising, for the ACC women’s cross country team.

Reports To: Athletic Director

Position Status: Temporary Part-time, Exempt, Paid by Stipend, subject to annual review and appointment. Season runs August through November. Recruitment and other related activities may extend beyond the season.

Classification/Points: Not Applicable

Bargaining Unit/Division: None

Position Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Direct and coordinate the activities of the cross country program in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the women’s cross country team.
  2. Responsible for recruitment of team members.
  3. Ensure all equipment associated with the cross country program is correctly set up, maintained, stored, and returned on completion of the coaching season.
  4. Must be willing to work outside of normal hours, including evenings and weekends.
  5. Coordinate and ensure compliance with College, conference, and NJCAA policies and regulations.
  6. Support the academic, athletic, and personal development of the student athletes.
  7. Monitor the expenses associated with the cross country program and make recommendations to the Athletic Director.
  8. Schedule and arrange team travel with the assistance and approval of the Athletic Director.
  9. Prepare game plans and strategy for intercollegiate competition.
  10. Follow all ACC and Athletic Department policies and procedures.
  11. Report any injuries of participants to proper school officials, filing proper injury report form.
  12. Communicate and follow up with Athletic Director on team matters requiring approval and input.
  13. Conduct daily practices (practice schedule varies from early morning to evening hours).
  14. Travel with team to all games and tournaments.
  15. Plan, schedule and coordinate pre-season trip and conditioning program.
  16. Provide other program services as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise intercollegiate athletes and the assistant coach.

Expected Hours of Work: The normal work hours for this position include early morning and evening practices throughout the season, with frequent games and tournaments in the evening and on weekends.

Travel: Frequent out-of-area and overnight travel is expected.

Work Environment: This job operates in an athletic environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Physical Effort: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
