Job description

Director of Training

Role Summary:

The Director of Training is responsible for the training of all current and recently hired team members and leaders. They lead the training team and ensure that all employed team members and leaders are trained to Chick-fil-A Standards. The Training Director works alongside Back of House, Front of House and Outside Sales Directors to ensure current systems are being trained. The Training Director coordinates with the People Director on a regular basis as new team members are onboarded or promotions are made.

Executive Director of Operations

Duties and Responsibilities

1) New Team Member Onboarding Training Process

  • Oversees team members onboarding from orientation to fully trained
  • Work with the People director to make the new team member transition from orientation to in restaurant smooth
  • All team members go through training in every position and knows about every position 
  • Create schedule for trainers and trainees 
  • Ensure Pathway is being followed in all training
  • Ensure all newly hired team members are lined up with a Trainer for training
  • Create training tracker
  • Ensure that the Culture within Chick-fil-A Valparaiso (hustle, care, kindness) is being properly trained and communicated

2) New Leader Onboarding and Training Process

  • Responsible for the onboarding system for new trainers 
  • System and process in place for training the trainers
  • All trainers have completed all relevant Pathway modules
  • Holds Training Leads Accountable for training new trainers
  • Responsible for training new Shift leads 
  • Works with Back of House, Front of House and Outside Sales Directors to implement training for new shift leads 
  • Helps train new shift leads for Back of House, Front of House and Outside sales 
  • Responsible for training new Assistant Directors 
  • Responsible for training new directors 
  • Works with Executive team to design onboarding training for directors 
  • Gets new directors set up with GroupMe, email, and uniforms

3) Team Member Continuous Growth and Recalibration 

  • Works with Front of House, Back of House and Outside Sales Directors to have biweekly recalibration focuses 
  • Holds Assistant director accountable for making sure recalibration rolled out by trainer team
  • Ensures team and leaders are trained and ready for all new products and rollouts 

4) Trainer Growth and Recalibration

  • Leads the Monthly trainer recalibration meetings 
  • Works with respective FOH or BOH director to come up with a plan for recalibration focus
  • Designs a performance evaluation for all trainers 
  • Holds trainers accountable to performance to the Chick-fil-A standards 
  • Works with BOH and FOH directors to develop each trainer to be ready for the next step of their leadership journey.

5) Shift Lead Recalibration 

  • Oversee the Shift lead excellence program
  • One time a week facilitate an ERQA 
  • Coach shift leads on positives and negatives of that guest’s experience
  • Goes through the food with the shift leads

Personal Development

  • Proficiency in all FOH positions
  • Proficiency in all BOH positions 
  • Must be able to train on shift leading in Front of House, Back of House and Outside Sales
  • Maintain extensive proficiency with Back of House, Front of House and Outside Sales Pathway training material 
  • Have positive professional relationships with other Directors and Shift Leads in the execution of appropriate training 
  • As a part of the director team, you will be studying different leadership materials each quarter
  • Be able to travel 2x a year (usually to Chicago) to see other Chick-fil-As and other businesses training plans.
  • Create a Feedback surveys for trainers, new hires, and promotions, identify gaps and opportunities within the training plan and adjust where appropriate
