JOB PURPOSE
The People & Culture Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the School's recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and benefits administration objectives by delivering high-quality, compliant, and employee-centered services. This position serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding recruitment processes, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, and employee support.
As an integral member of the People & Culture team, the Generalist partners closely with leadership, managers, and employees to promote a positive employee experience and uphold institutional values. The role functions as both an employee advocate and a change agent, bringing a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to daily operations and continuous improvement efforts.
The Generalist is responsible for anticipating and responding to the School's evolving people-related needs, providing best-practice guidance, and supporting efficient, customer-focused onboarding and orientation processes for new hires. Through collaboration, sound judgment, and attention to detail, the Generalist contributes to a highly effective People and Culture function that supports the School's mission and operational excellence.

This position is fully on-site. The incumbent must work in person on campus and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The People & Culture Generalist performs a wide range of both complex and routine administrative and operational functions, including but not limited to:
  • Advise and counsel unit managers and staff on People & Culture policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist the Director of People & Culture Operations with benefits-related inquiries, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, parental leave, and leave of absence processing and administration.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding activities to ensure a seamless and compliant employee experience.
  • Initiate and process HR-related documentation, including employment changes, compensation updates, compliance forms, and personnel records.
  • Manage overall People & Culture administrative operations as the first point of contact for employees, visitors, and stakeholders, ensuring professional and responsive service delivery.
  • Oversee employee record maintenance to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and school policies.
  • Own and manage the onboarding and offboarding process for all part-time employees, ensuring timely system updates, documentation completion, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Post and manage all vacancies across recruitment platforms and systems, ensuring alignment with institutional branding and hiring standards.
  • Provide responses to general payroll inquiries, partnering closely with Payroll and Finance to ensure timely resolution.
  • Resolve employee login and password concerns related to HRIS platforms (including ADP systems), serving as a key systems support contact.
  • Respond to all employment verification requests in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Serve as the unit-level contact for the People & Culture department, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Support the Director in employee relations matters and employee disputes, assisting with documentation, investigations, performance management processes, and conflict resolution efforts.
  • Support various strategic projects and programs centered around People and Culture initiatives at Atlanta International School, including compliance, engagement, policy updates, and process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the evolving needs of the People & Culture function and institutional priorities.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees across multiple functions to develop programs and execute strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and self-reliance, with the ability to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
  • High degree of professionalism with a strong commitment to teamwork and organizational values.
  • Mandatory experience with ADP Workforce Now, with a minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on system use.
  • Mandatory experience in Human Resources as a Coordinator, Generalist (Preferred), Specialist or related with a minimum of 2-3 years of actual related HR work experience.
  • Mandatory proficiency using MacBook (Apple) hardware and operating systems, with the ability to efficiently navigate and support work in a macOS environment.
  • Mandatory proficiency with Google Drive and Google Workspace tools (including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and shared drives) for document management, collaboration, and workflow execution.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels of the organization.
  • Patience, empathy, trustworthiness, and sound judgment, with the ability to make timely and thoughtful decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
