REPORTS TO: Junior-Senior High School Administration
PAY TYPE: Contract, Supervisory
PAY RATE: Based upon the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)

SCHEDULE: 183 Days, plus additional days as required; Follows school calendar

POSITION SUMMARY:
The High School Counseling Director coordinates the school's comprehensive counseling program while supporting the academic, college and career, and social-emotional development of all students. The position oversees the school's Section 504 program, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), standardized testing program, and college and career readiness initiatives while collaborating with administrators, teachers, students, families, and community partners to promote student success.

The High School Counseling Director supports this commitment by leading and coordinating counseling services, student supports, and partnerships that promote student success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead academic planning, graduation tracking, and student progress monitoring
  • Directly responsible for all master scheduling
  • Direct guidance services for the Junior-Senior High School and support counselors in the delivery of academic, career, and social-emotional services
  • Oversee Section 504 accommodations, MTSS frameworks, testing logistics, documentation, and regulatory compliance
  • Analyze assessment data to drive interventions, improve student achievement, and support school improvement goals
  • Coordinate individual and group counseling activities and assist with crisis response as needed
  • Build collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, and community agencies to support students both in and outside of crisis situations
  • Communicate counseling services, support initiatives, and testing information effectively to stakeholders
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Administration

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Valid Indiana School Counselor License (or university letter of impending licensure)
    • Submission of cover letter, resume, official transcripts, three (3) letters of recommendation, and any training certificates or sample performance evaluations
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
    • Strong leadership and organizational skills to coordinate department activities and collaborate effectively with counseling staff
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Section 504, MTSS, college/career readiness, and standardized testing administration
    • Ability to utilize student data to design interventions and foster academic achievement
    • Exceptional interpersonal, crisis intervention, and communication skills
    • Jr.-Sr. High School or Secondary experience is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Position works indoors in a typical school environment that may include school office, classroom, and meeting environments
  • May work near others, often within a few feet
  • May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
