Job Summary:

The Deployed Customer Engineer (DCE) acts as a technical bridge between Couchbase's engineering and customer goals, ensuring successful technical implementations and delivering strategic solutions. The role involves writing code, designing database architectures, and collaborating with customer teams to achieve business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Technical Implementation & Development
โ€ข Hands-on Coding: Write clean, scalable code to build integrations, APIs, and data models that connect Couchbase with customer ecosystems.
โ€ข Product Configuration: Expertly configure Couchbase Server, Capella (DBaaS), and Mobile products to optimize for latency, throughput, and reliability.
โ€ข Architecture Design: Design and implement advanced data architectures, including Vector Search and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns for modern AI applications.
โ€ข Customer Integration & Success
โ€ข Embedded Partnership: Integrate directly with customer development teams, participating in sprints and code reviews to ensure best practices are understood, implemented, and governed.
โ€ข Problem Solving: Act as the "boots on the ground" to troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues, performance bottlenecks, and deployment hurdles.

Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Strong proficiency in at least two major languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#).
โ€ข Deep understanding of NoSQL concepts, distributed systems, and SQL-based query languages (N1QL).
โ€ข Ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to both developers and executive stakeholders.
โ€ข Comfortable navigating Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
โ€ข 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Technical Consulting.
โ€ข Proven track record of deploying large-scale distributed databases or data intensive applications.
โ€ข A drive to 'Attack Hard Problems' and the empathy to 'Be A Great Human' while working inside a customerโ€™s environment.
