Job description

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Room Service Coordinator for theirย Nutrition department responsible forย providing service excellence to patients and guests in the selection of room service meals and nourishments utilizing the departmental nutrition software and the medical record to support communication and implementation of physician generated dietary orders. Major accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for maximum patient/guest satisfaction with the meal ordering process. Utilizes interpersonal and customer service skills to create a positive room service dining experience/outcome for all patients, guests, and staff.ย 
  • Assists patients and caregivers in making appropriate menu selections in accordance with dietary restrictions and meal patterns and offers appropriate substitutions where necessary.ย 
  • Appropriately obtains approval for overrides to diet restrictions and/or allergies from Diet Specialist and/or Supervisor.ย

*Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable. Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health's annual management incentive program. Physician compensation is determined based upon specialty and may include bonus potential. Education:

  • Preferred: 2 or more years of college.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Minimum:ย California Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate within 7 days of hire.

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum:ย Basic skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. 35 wpm typing/keyboarding speed.
  • Preferred: Nutrition software experience.

Years of Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum: 2 years experience in customer service, telephone call /service center, or nutrition. A Bachelor's degree in nutrition or food science can be used in lieu of experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years in a healthcare diet office or equivalent experience.
