Job description

Summary

The Cottage Coordinator is responsible for creating a caring, safe, Christian community within the residential setting utilizing the C.A.R.E. principles and practice model. The Cottage Coordinator will also provide guidance/supervision to the direct care staff in order to ensure that the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each resident are met.

Required Skills:

Demonstrated ability to use sound discretion and good judgment in developing and implementing decisions.

Primary Performance Objectives:

  • Oversees all aspects of the cottage operation and maintains cottage compliance in all areas of internal and external regulations and procedures.
  • Reviews and approves all documentation completed by the direct care staff.
  • To create a milieu within the residence that reflects thorough understanding and application of the six C.A.R.E. principles to the physical, spiritual, and emotional environment, and to the interactions among staff and clients
  • To train, teach, supervise, and evaluate the direct care staff within the C.A.R.E. framework and within the mission, policies and procedures adopted by Epworth and required by the State of South Carolina
  • To consistently model the C.A.R.E. principles and practices with clients and their families, staff, and the public in all settings where the ministry of Epworth is represented
  • To participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans of care for each respective client, and to collaborate effectively with other Epworth staff as a team member serving in the best interests of each client
  • To ensure the safe, effective operation of the respective cottage unit, including meeting Epworth and state standards for documentation, supervision, medication administration, safety, cleanliness, and inspection-readiness. Ensure staff coverage of cottage in order to meet the required ratio requirements.
  • To consistently model professional behavior toward supervision, other staff and providers, the mission and ministry of Epworth, and continued development as a childcare leader/supervisor/provider

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Human Service field or an Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience in a child care setting. Two (2) years of experience as a caregiver at Epworth or other similar agency.
