Job description

Description Primary duty is managing and running the costume shop in an efficient manner. Examples of Duties Directly responsible to the Theater Production Manager and the Costume Designer(s) for the Theater productions. In charge of all costume/wardrobe elements for Cain Park theaters, and for any special events that require wardrobe assistance, as long as they do not interfere with the demands of the Theater wardrobe/costume needs.

Coordinate the procurement of appropriate measurements as needed to facilitate the costume designs and fittings. Supervise and assist all costume fittings. Inventory, maintain, and repair as needed all Park Costume Shop equipment.

Inventory, maintain and coordinate the use of all Park costume stock. Maintain costume designs, costume information, costume measurement sheets and all other paperwork relating to the costuming for Theater productions. Produce working drawings as necessary for the shop.

Order all costume materials, supplies, and rentals and coordinate their proper delivery and subsequent return or storage needs. Stay within the costume and laundry budgets and compromise when necessary. Attend all technical and dress rehearsals.

Supervise the proper training of any of the Actors required to wear any costumes unfamiliar to them, and train any Park personnel required to wear/use any costume "equipment" unfamiliar to them. Work with the Costume Designer(s) towards the realization of their designs. Cost out shows with the Costume Designer(s) and Theater Production Manager.

Act as Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser during all performances of the production. Maintain the costumes on a daily basis and coordinate the cleaning of said costumes throughout the run of the shows, determining the schedule for dry cleaning with the Theater Production Manager. Coordinate the proper repacking and returning of rented costumes and accessories, as well as the subsequent return or storage needs of other costumes.

Maintain high safety levels at all times. Attend all production meetings and any other meetings as required by the Theater Production Manager and/or the Costume Designer. Typical Qualifications College graduate or 2-4 years experience in a related field a must.
