Job description

Instructor – Cranbrook Theatre School

The Greek Theatre has served as the centerpiece of Cranbrook Theatre School for over 100 years; a beautiful full-sized replica of a classic outdoor Greek theater setting nestled in a mature pine forest. Our curriculum is designed to meet campers at their individual skill levels, working to cultivate confidence and nurture an understanding of the theatre arts through hands-on experience and exploration. Duties: Interact with families and campers (boys and girls, grades 2-12) in a positive, nurturing and enriching manner. Create and execute fun and engaging lesson plans and develop materials required for specific activity content and present them for approval to the camp director in a timely manner. Oversee all assigned activities and supply inventories for the activity area. Supervise and manage all campers to ensure consistent engagement and safety for each camper during the activity. Provide enriching and creative growth experiences within the camp activities. Instructor activities include Acting, Costumes, Dance/Choreographer, Vocal Music, Tech: Sound/Lights, Tech: Set Build/Scene Shop, Tech: Stage Management.

Qualifications: High school diploma; experience in activity; teaching experience; certified in activity or be open to early training (if applicable); superior problem-solving skills and ability to relate with campers, staff, and parents.

Preferred: Currently attending or graduated from college; camp employment experience.

Timeframe: Orientation begins the week of June 9. Camp runs Monday-Friday, June 15-August 7, with pack-away on August 8.

Wage: $17.50 per hour.
