Quality Engineers are core delivery team members responsible for the validation of functional and nonfunctional requirements implemented by a team. They are responsible for decomposing the functional and technical requirements created by Product Owners and Systems Analysts into test scripts. Quality Engineers raise defects as issues are identified and support the remediation process with teams.
Costco Travel is looking for a dedicated and experienced Software Quality Engineer to join its Shopping Portfolio quality team as QA Lead and will be responsible for leading Quality Engineers across multiple scrum teams as well as leading quality efforts in cross-portfolio.

ROLE
• Design and lead implementation of testing processes for continuous improvement.
• Drive adoption of standards and best practices for software testing and automation integration.
• Discover problems, analyze and mitigate quality risks.
• Assist in the definition of testing strategies and approaches for complex technical implementations.
• Direct, manage and remove roadblocks for multiple onshore and offshore teams of quality professionals.
• Takes an active role in interviewing and onboarding new employees as well as improving the processes.
• Mentor and guide members of the team to increase skills and productivity.
• Manage and prioritize functional and automation team backlog effectively with QA leadership team.
• Measure and report organization performance against a comprehensive set of quality goals and metrics.
• Defines the testing strategy and approach to validate new or enhanced functionality implemented by teams.
• Lead team members to decompose functional and nonfunctional requirements into test plans.
• Determines test dependencies including QA test environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans, intra-team dependencies, and communication processes.
• Identifies risks impacting the timely delivery of a given product and collaborates with team members to prepare mitigation strategies.
• Guide team members to investigate the root cause of failed manual or automated test scripts.
• Support team members to identify existing manual and automated test scripts that will be impacted through the development of new features and capabilities.
• Shares feedback with the team members pertaining to the quality of sprint deliverables during retrospectives.
• Manages the remediation of defects raised throughout the development lifecycle and creates supporting quality reports that are shared with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product team members (e.g., Product Owners, System Analysts) to define the automating testing approach / strategy for a given product / application.
• Develops testing protocols and standards to improve end-to-end testing outcomes and shares and adopts best practices with the center of excellence (CoE) and other Quality Engineers.
• Support and guide team members (e.g., DevOps Engineers, Systems Architects) to incorporate new automated test scripts into the continuous integration pipeline.
• Shares test automation practices with engineers to promote "shift left" testing disciplines and practices (incorporate testing earlier in development) within a team.
• Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
REQUIRED
• 8+ years of QA experience in a technology delivery organization.
• 8+ years of current experience with web/Internet technologies.
• 2+ years of proven leadership qualities.
• Coach and Lead QA Team members in a Scrum style working environment.
• Web UI and backend automation knowledge.
• Experience testing Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)/Microservices.
• Current development experience in Java (or similar).
• Experience with Microsoft SQL or similar relational database.
• Experience in a CI/CD and DevOps environment.
• Knowledge of XML/JSON and web-based SOAP/RESTful services.
• Understanding of security and performance testing practices.
• Active participant of a team willing to continually self-assess and improvement.
• Self-driven continuous learning mindset.
• Inventive problem solver - open minded but practical.

• Travel industry knowledge.

Pay Ranges:
Level 3 - $130,000 - $160,000
Senior - $150,000 - $190,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
