Position Summary
This position requires a complete understanding of all areas of the business - operations, fresh foods, and merchandising. Directs, plans, and coordinates programs necessary for successful location operations. Is responsible for the operation of the location in the absence of the Warehouse Manager. Addresses personnel issues and oversees tasks performed by all employees. Is responsible for understanding, teaching, and maintaining our culture, core values, and ethics. Builds relationships that inspire and motivates others. This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week) and may require periodic location reassignment.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
  • Observes employee performance, coaching as needed to ensure department, business and company procedures and standards are met.
  • Reviews work product, monitors workload, and sets standards for productivity and accuracy.
  • Conducts yearly performance reviews and provides regular coaching and training to all staff.
  • Responds to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations.
  • Develops and maintains a team atmosphere through communication and mentoring. Establishes new ways of acknowledging positive performance to support employee morale.
  • Reviews applicant submissions for job postings, conducts interviews, and makes recommendations regarding hiring status.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn all aspects of the Warehouse Manager position. Fills in for Warehouse Manager when necessary. Performs Duty Manager responsibilities.
  • Coordinates activities of departments to obtain optimum efficiency and facilitates interdepartmental cooperation.
  • Reviews operating and financial statements. Plans and sets goals for the yearly budget of the warehouse. Directs appropriate measures to reach warehouse goals.
  • Schedules, develops, counsels, trains, and directs department personnel. Makes recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination to Warehouse Manager. Reviews and approves area timecards. Drafts and participates in presentation of employee performance evaluations. Writes weekly manager schedules.
  • Implements and ensures follow-through of policies and procedures for warehouse and departmental operations, such as ethics, food safety, and company standards. Ensures the safety and security of the warehouse. Develops in-house safety programs specific to the departments which they oversee, as well as the rest of the warehouse, based on corporate guidelines.
  • Provides and ensures prompt and courteous member service. Responds to member concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion.
  • Oversees the warehouse safety program. Attends safety meetings, promotes safety, and ensures implementation of safety protocol as set forth in corporate standards.
  • Ensures proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials.
  • Plans maintenance and purchase of equipment. Oversees and negotiates with outside vendors and approves contracted services. Coordinates these activities with the Warehouse Manager and the department Manager whom they oversee.
  • Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery.

Assistant General Manager positions are Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible. Min $100,000 - Max $116,00
