Job description

Position Title: Cost Accountant
This role is essential for driving financial efficiency within a dynamic food processing environment. A Cost Accountant will play a critical role in tracking production costs, analyzing variances, and collaborating with operations to enhance reporting practices. The individual will work closely with a small team, providing insights that contribute to operational improvements and cost management. The position requires a hands-on approach and a willingness to engage directly on the production floor. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting and seeks to make a tangible impact on the organization's financial performance.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 / Year DOE
Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
  • Track and analyze production costs, labor, and variances
  • Monitor inventory, cycle counts, and reconciliations
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and identify efficiencies
  • Support budgeting and forecasting
  • Work with plant teams to improve reporting and operations
  • Maintain accurate data in Microsoft Business Central ERP
  • Review production yield, waste, and margins
  • Build reports and dashboards for leadership
  • Assist with customer pricing models

Cost Accountant Requirements:
  • Experience in food processing manufacturing is required
  • 5-10+ years of experience
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and COGS
  • Comfortable working closely with operations, not just spreadsheets
  • Advanced Excel skills; Power BI is a plus
  • ERP experience is required; Microsoft Business Central is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Flexibility to work typical hours of 8-5, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime on Sundays for inventory is preferred
