Job Summary:

Ole Mexican Foods is currently seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to support our growing manufacturing operations. This role will play a critical part in managing product costing, BOM maintenance, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and margin performance across the business. The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with Operations and Leadership to drive efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement. In this role you will…

  • Lead the Bill of Material (BOM) set up, maintenance and review for manufactured items and prepare cost estimates for new products. Perform monthly cost rolls for finished products manufactured and purchased along with cost change analysis.
  • Set up new raw material, packaging, WIP, and FG items; create and maintain production BOM’s. Maintain periodic cost updates.
  • Develop, maintain and review standard costs for Materials, Ingredients, Packaging (MIP) Provide daily/monthly compilation of manufacturing costs, variances and actionable items.
  • Perform in depth analysis of direct manufacturing and overhead cost with the objective of guiding to Operations Managers, an understanding of their cost and metrics as well as thoughts on where to reduce cost.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost. Analyses actual production costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Implement, monitor and provide continuous improvement in the standard work procedures for appropriate cost accounting procedures and methods. Conduct and analyze audits of costs and prepares reports.
  • Develop, maintain and review overhead allocation matrix for approval and implementation.
  • Prepare, analyze and track monthly actual to standard usage and loss variances, and assisting in the preparation of the appropriate quarterly and annual reporting packages.
  • Develop analytical tools to highlight price, cost and margin differentials between like products, customers and shipping points.
  • Provide inventory accountability, distribution of factory labor, verification of actual costs and computation of variances and month-end inventory valuation, account reconciliations and performance reporting.
  • Conduct ongoing pricing, cost and gross margin reviews with management for all products and customers to correct sub-standard margins.


You’ve got what it takes if you have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a degree in business, or related field- preferred.
  • 5-10 years direct Cost Accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and an ability to interpret complex data in meaningful and relevant ways to identify variances (e.g.’ COGS, distribution, SBT variances).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong system skills required.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, accounting policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, cost accounting methods, and cost modeling tools and methods is required.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and explain financial information and knowledge of income statement accounting methods is required.
  • Strong team player, who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines and lead by example. Project management skills a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that will allow them to express the key points in a clear manner.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work with the ability to work with minimal direction when necessary to support the group’s objectives.
  • The ability to travel 25% or as needed.
