Job description

CORNERSTONE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Title

Site Work Crew Leader / Foreman — Venice (Heavy Equipment)

Run equipment and ready to lead a crew of your own? Cornerstone Environmental Services is opening a new Venice location with a full pipeline of homebuilder site work already in place. You’ll do the hands-on work and lead a crew of one to two people installing site protection and erosion control across the Sarasota–Venice–North Port corridor — with a company truck, a Ditch Witch SK900 mini skid steer/trencher, and steady year-round work backed by a monthly bonus.

Who should apply
  • Site/civil background or skilled skid-steer / equipment operator ready to step up to crew leader
  • Can read site and grading plans and direct a crew on an active jobsite
  • Holds a valid DL with a clean record (CDL a plus)
Position Details

Schedule: Full-time, consistent year-round work with strong overtime potential. Shifts typically begin at 7:00 AM and conclude around 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some Saturday work may be required based on project and weather demands.

Location: Based out of our new Venice-area yard, serving active homebuilder communities across the Sarasota–Venice–North Port corridor. A company work vehicle is provided for travel to and from job sites.

Compensation: $20–$24 per hour, based on experience, with overtime paid after 40 hours and a monthly performance bonus available.

Reports to: Location Field Manager.

What You’ll Do

This is a hands-on, labor-heavy role. You’ll be a working field technician first — in the dirt doing the physical work every day — while also leading a small crew of one to two people. You set the pace, work alongside them, own the quality, and keep the crew safe and productive. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Do the Work and Lead the Crew: Work alongside and direct a small crew of one to two people — doing the physical, labor-intensive work with them while assigning tasks, setting the daily pace, training new hires, and holding the team to Cornerstone’s quality and safety standards.
  • Erosion Control & BMP Installation: Install and maintain silt fence and stormwater best-management practices (BMPs) on active construction sites — post-setting, fabric attachment, inlet protection, and ongoing repair and maintenance to keep sites compliant. This is demanding, physical work done by hand and with equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate a Ditch Witch SK900 (or similar) mini skid steer/trencher and related machinery, and operate a company cab-over truck and trailer. Load, unload, and secure equipment, tools, and materials so the crew is ready to work each day.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all work meets Florida stormwater (NPDES) requirements. Walk sites, identify deficiencies, correct them, and keep every site inspection-ready.
  • Site Coordination: Communicate professionally with site superintendents and the home office. Document completed work accurately and manage materials and inventory on the truck.
  • Safety Leadership: Model and enforce all company safety standards and protocols, including PPE use and crew safety briefings. Your crew’s safety is your responsibility.
What We’re Looking For
  • Field Leadership: A proven ability to lead a small crew and consistently deliver quality work on time. You take ownership and others want to follow your lead.
  • Relevant Background: Erosion control or silt fence experience is preferred — but landscape installation, site work, or civil/site contractor experience is equally welcome. If you’ve led crews doing physical site work, we want to talk.
  • Equipment Skills: Comfortable and confident operating a Ditch Witch SK900 (or similar) mini skid steer/trencher and related equipment, and towing/operating a truck-and-trailer. A CDL is a strong plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Required, with a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish): A strong plus for leading and communicating with field crews.
  • Built for Physical Work: Comfortable with demanding, labor-intensive work outdoors in Florida conditions every day — this is a get-your-hands-dirty role, not a supervise-from-the-truck one — with consistent attendance, punctuality, and sharp attention to detail.
Why Cornerstone

We’re an established, growing company with a full book of work in the Venice corridor. The crew you lead will have steady, year-round work from the start — backed by a company that values its people and rewards strong performance:

  • Steady, Year-Round Work: A full schedule waiting on day one — not seasonal, not feast-or-famine.
  • Competitive Pay + Overtime: $20–$24 per hour, with overtime paid after 40 hours.
  • Monthly Bonus: A performance bonus available every month.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): Earn well-deserved time to recharge.
  • Paid Holidays: Celebrate key holidays with the people who matter most.
  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical coverage for you and your family.
  • 401(k) with Employer Match: We invest in your future by matching a portion of your contributions.
  • Company Vehicle: Provided for travel to and from job sites.
Ready to Lead?

If you’re a field leader who takes pride in doing things right and you want steady work with a company that’s already busy, we want to hear from you. Join Cornerstone and lead our newest crew protecting Florida’s job sites and communities.
