Job description

In this role, you will shape and steward Netflix’s risk philosophy, designing and executing both traditional and innovative solutions to complex and evolving risk challenges. You will lead a team that supports Netflix’s corporate, production, and emerging businesses and oversees end-to-end risk and claims activities while partnering closely with cross‑functional leaders around the world.

The successful candidate will be a strategic risk executive and thought leader with a proven track record of building and leading high‑performing teams and managing a diverse portfolio of global risks.

This is a highly visible, hands‑on leadership role that combines long‑term strategic thinking with day‑to‑day operational excellence to support Netflix’s continued growth and innovation.

Strategic leadership and risk philosophy
  • Own and continuously refine Netflix’s overall risk philosophy and framework in alignment with Netflix’s culture of innovation, speed, and responsible risk‑taking.
  • Manage the company’s Total Cost of Risk, optimizing the balance between risk transfer, retention, and operational controls to support growth and profitability.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to executive and functional leaders on the risk implications of strategic decisions, new initiatives, and market expansion.
Enterprise risk and claims management
  • Lead end‑to‑end Risk and Claims Management across Netflix’s corporate, production, advertising, gaming, live, and consumer experience businesses.
  • Oversee a high‑performing global team responsible for program design, placement, pricing, coverage terms, and claims resolution across a broad range of insurance lines, including Auto and General Liability, Aviation, Business Interruption, Errors and Omissions, Fiduciary, Property, Workers’ Compensation, and others.
  • Direct claims strategies and outcomes, including the management of TPAs, major and complex claims, and an effective return‑to‑work program.
Program design, innovation, and alternative risk financing
  • Develop and evolve insurance products and risk management solutions that balance Netflix’s risk philosophy with business and operational needs, including new and emerging business models.
  • Drive the evaluation and implementation of alternative risk financing solutions, e.g., captives and self‑insured structures, to enable cost‑effective self‑funding of risk.
  • Challenge the status quo and explore innovative ways to structure risk, coverage, and data to support Netflix’s unique content and product portfolio.
External partnerships and market engagement
  • Oversee strategic relationships with external partners, including actuaries, brokers, carriers, and TPAs, ensuring best‑in‑class service, innovative solutions, and competitive pricing.
  • Represent Netflix’s interests in market negotiations and industry forums, leveraging market intelligence to anticipate trends and proactively adjust strategies.
Data, technology, and performance management
  • Develop and own Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting frameworks that measure and drive the performance of Risk and Claims Management activities.
  • Leverage existing and emerging technologies, data platforms, and analytics tools to drive operational excellence, data visibility, and actionable insights for decision‑makers.
  • Continuously improve processes and systems to enhance scalability, automation, and transparency.
Cross‑functional partnership and governance
  • Partner closely with Physical Production, Production Finance, Safety and Security, Finance, Legal, and other cross‑functional teams to support projects, budgeting, accounting, and reporting related to risk and insurance.
  • Advise internal teams on potential risks, coverage requirements, and mitigation strategies for new initiatives, business lines, and markets.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards relating to insurance coverage and risk management, ensuring appropriate governance and compliance.
People leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse, high‑performing team, creating an environment that encourages ownership, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Scale the function to match Netflix’s growth and complexity, ensuring the team is structured, staffed, and equipped to deliver at a global, enterprise level.
