Job description

Workers' Compensation is a critical driver of value at Hertz—supporting our employees, strengthening operations, and improving business performance. We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee our national Workers' Compensation and Return to Work programs, driving strong claim outcomes, enhancing the employee experience, and partnering across the business to deliver continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Director, Risk Management, this role is ideal for a strategic, data-driven professional who excels at solving complex challenges, building relationships, and creating meaningful impact for both employees and the organization.

The starting salary is $115,000, commensurate with experience.

What You\'ll Do:
  • Oversee Hertz's national Workers' Compensation and Return to Work programs, ensuring effective claims management, regulatory compliance, strong financial stewardship, and positive employee outcomes
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to TPAs, defense counsel, nurse case managers, medical providers, and other vendors to drive optimal claim resolution and program performance
  • Review complex claims, litigation strategies, reserves, and settlements to support sound business decisions and mitigate risk
  • Partner with Operations, HR, Safety, Payroll, Finance, and Legal to facilitate successful return-to-work outcomes and reduce lost time
Drive Performance Through Data & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and analyze dashboards, scorecards, and key performance metrics to identify trends, improve claim outcomes, and enhance Return to Work effectiveness
  • Leverage data, technology, and automation to streamline processes, strengthen reporting, and modernize program management
  • Support actuarial analyses, insurance renewals, budgeting, financial reporting, and other Risk Management initiatives
Build Partnerships & Strengthen Accountability
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, fostering collaboration across internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Establish performance expectations, governance processes, and accountability measures for TPAs and vendors
  • Identify injury trends and root causes, implement practical loss-control solutions, and provide guidance on Workers' Compensation and Return to Work best practices
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor\'s degree preferred; Associates degree with 5+ years of Workers' Compensation claims experience, preferably in a large, multi-state organization can be considered inlieuofbachelor'sdegree
  • Strong knowledge of Workers' Compensation claims management, reserving, litigation, regulatory compliance, and Return to Work programs
  • Experience managing Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and other external claims service providers
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and drive initiatives to completion
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Corporate Risk Management experience supporting Workers' Compensation programs from the client side
  • Experience managing self-insured Workers' Compensation programs
  • Proficiency with RMIS platforms (e.g., Origami Risk, Riskonnect) and business intelligence tools such as Power BI
  • Experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or business transformation initiatives
  • Professional designations such as ARM, CIC, CPCU, or an Adjuster\'s License preferred
