What is corporate retail?

Corporate retail refers to retail businesses that are owned and operated by a corporation or large company, rather than individual owners or franchisees. These companies often have multiple store locations and centralized management, allowing for standardized policies, branding, and operations. Corporate retail can include big-box stores, department stores, and national chains. Employees in corporate retail may work in areas such as store operations, merchandising, supply chain management, marketing, or corporate support roles. Corporate retail environments typically offer structured career paths and opportunities for advancement.

How does a corporate retail professional typically collaborate with store-level teams to implement company strategies?

Corporate Retail professionals frequently work closely with store managers and frontline staff to ensure that company-wide initiatives, such as new product launches or promotional campaigns, are executed effectively at the store level. This collaboration often involves regular meetings, training sessions, and feedback loops to align goals and address challenges. Successful communication and adaptability are key, as corporate teams must tailor strategies to fit the unique needs of different locations while maintaining overall brand consistency. By fostering strong relationships with store teams, Corporate Retail professionals help drive sales performance and customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in corporate retail, and why are they important?

To thrive in Corporate Retail, you need strong analytical abilities, business acumen, and a background in retail management or a related field, often supported by a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools is typically required. Excellent communication, leadership, and adaptability help professionals collaborate across departments and drive strategic initiatives. These skills ensure efficient operations, effective merchandising, and sustained profitability in a dynamic retail environment.

At Austin Wood Recycling, it is our mission to pursue quality and sustainability every day, create vital space-safely and effectively; and return an organic, 100% recycled product to the earth with purpose.
About AWR
Austin Wood Recycling (AWR) has rooted itself in service since 1987, cultivating a family-owned atmosphere in the pursuit of responsible stewardship of the land. Our goal is to give back to nature by recycling the collected materials from suburban and urban improvement projects using sustainable, environmentally friendly land-clearing practices. We strive to respect our natural resources by recycling all organic material; thereby reducing environmental strain and preventing landfill waste.
By creating our line of premium Texas Native® landscape products from recycled organic materials, we're proud to manufacture goods from a byproduct of development. And as the nation's largest contract grinding company, the AWR family is committed to continued growth with Texas and our customers across the United States, using safe, environmentally sound construction and manufacturing methods; exceeding customer expectations by delivering on time, with friendliness and dependability.
About the Position
This position will support and manage our corporate retail accounts, with a strong focus on big box customers such as Home Depot and Lowe's. We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships while also being highly analytical and detail-oriented. The role requires balancing customer service and account management with forecasting, inventory planning, logistics coordination, and data analysis, especially during our peak season.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with corporate retail customers (store managers, district managers, regional managers, corporate teams).
  • Analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and forecasts to help ensure in-stock performance.
  • Coordinate with operations, production, transportation, and sales teams to execute customer needs.
  • Monitor purchase orders, inventory positions, and logistics to proactively resolve potential issues.
  • Assist with seasonal forecasting, promotions, new product launches, and inventory planning.
  • Prepare reports, sales analysis, and customer presentations using Excel and other reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support long-term account growth.
  • Work closely with replenishment teams and internal departments to maintain excellent customer service and execution.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
  • Experience managing large retail or big box accounts (Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, especially during seasonal demand.
Benefits
We offer highly competitive salaries and premium benefits as we continue to strive to create a rewarding work environment. Salary considerations are based on qualification and experience.
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision coverage
  • 401K fully vested at year-one - max company match of 4% for team member deferrals of 5% or greater
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Holidays, and Paid Bereavement Leave
  • Educational Assistance for Industry-related Certifications
