Job description

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Director, Corporate Development to join our Strategic Finance.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves-one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

The Senior Director of Corporate Development is a senior finance and strategy leader responsible for advancing Oscar's inorganic growth agenda through thesis-driven market mapping, target sourcing, strategic partnerships, investments, divestitures, and M&A. This role translates enterprise priorities into actionable market landscapes, target universes, build/buy/partner recommendations, and a prioritized pipeline of opportunities, while leading rigorous financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, approval materials, and transaction execution from initial evaluation through closing and integration planning.

You will report into the SVP, Deputy CFO.

Work Location: This is a remote position, open to candidates who reside in: Atlanta, GA. You will be fully remote; however, our approach to work may adapt over time. Future models could potentially involve a hybrid presence at the hub office associated with your metro area. #LI-Remote

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $196,733 - $258,212 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Deal Execution: Lead end-to-end corporate development execution across M&A, investments, divestitures, and strategic partnerships, including target sourcing, market mapping, valuation, financial modeling, diligence, negotiation, approval materials, closing, and integration planning.
  • Integration: Partner with operators to define integration plans, synergy/value-capture targets, post-close KPIs, and governance to ensure transactions deliver against strategic and financial objectives.
  • Market mapping: Develop and manage a thesis-driven sourcing strategy that translates enterprise priorities into market landscapes, target universes, build/buy/partner recommendations, and a prioritized pipeline of actionable M&A, investment, and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Advanced Financial and Capital Modeling: Lead sophisticated, long-term, enterprise-wide financial and capital modeling efforts to inform and influence strategic decisions related to future growth initiatives and capital allocation.
  • Strategic Initiative Evaluation & Due Diligence: Provide comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations of strategic growth initiatives, including new market entries and business lines, in close partnership with the Corporate Strategy team.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in analytical financial roles, with significant leadership responsibilities.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated ability using expert financial modeling skills to effectively translate complex data into actionable insights, robust strategies, and comprehensive financial plans, particularly in a corporate development context.
  • 8+ years of significant corporate development experience, including direct involvement in M&A financial modeling, valuation, and negotiation.
  • 7+ years of experience collaborating, influencing, and presenting at the executive level, including direct interaction with C-suite and Board members.

Bonus points:

  • Experience in similar roles in strategy consulting, financial services, or insurance industries (ex: private equity, venture capital, investment banking)
  • Strong preference for healthcare industry experience and deep market knowledge.
  • Advanced degrees or professional designations, such as an MBA or CFA.
