Corewell Health is offering up to $1,500 for Full Time and $750 for Part Time as a sign on bonus for this opportunity!

About this unit

This seventy-two bed PCU practices patient and family centered care. The unit acuity level of patients is progressive care. Our unit consists of initiative-taking, skilled Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Telemetry Technicians working together as a Team. FH PCU cares for a wide variety of critically ill patients who require cardiac drips with need for titration, ventilated patients, and those that require a higher level of supportive care.

Recognized by U.S News and World Report as one of the nation’s high-performing facilities for multiple procedures and conditions and has been recognized as a Magnet-designed hospital for nursing excellence. This hospital has grown in size and capabilities over the decades to become a Level II trauma center, serving the community since 1965. It also serves as the base teaching hospital for Michigan State University.

Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred

  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required

  • Current CNA certification preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.

  • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.

  • Basic computer knowledge is preferred.

  • Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.

  • Ability to demonstrate Corewell Health customer service standards and behaviors in all aspects of job performance
